Aimpoint CompM3 issue
I have a CompM3. Purchased new sometime 2007-08.

As of last night, the dot will not turn off. Even in the lowest three clicks, which should be only visible to NVG, the dot is clearly visible in bright light. I have pulled the battery and let it sit, thinking it might "reset" the electronics, but nay.

I have emailed Aimpoint, but I was wondering if anyone else had come across this same issue? The Google is less-than-helpful on the matter.

I haven't experienced anything like this, but based on your description it seems to be a switch issue. There is not much on the web about this probably because it is a rare occurance. Since the switch is the only piece of an Aimpoint that moves, it will be more subject to wear than other components in the Aimpoint. Please give an update when this is resolved and the problem has been discovered.

Thanks

I have been thinking about this since I posted earlier and may have a solution to the problem.
Have you checked the set screw that holds the knob in place. If that is lose then it could cause it to rotate past the actual position, and activate another setting. Do you still have all 9 settings in the range of motion? You could loosen the set screw for the knob, and see if the position for the NV setting has moved due to a lose screw. Then manually set the switch to the lowest position and reattach the knob and set screw and see if that works.

Let us know what Aim point responds with. I have contacted them before, and they did get back to me.

They issued me a RMA to send it back to them. I am the original owner, but I don't have the receipt. We'll see if they warranty it, or make me pay.

Aimpoint is good with stuff like this. I know several people that work there, and would be stunned if they don't take care of you

One of the things I always remember telling me...that the switch will wear out before the battery...which is one of the reasons they say to just leave it on...you may be proof of this

I'm using a 15-year-old CompM2 that I can't bear replacing because... it still works.

Different rifle, 5-year-old T-1. I like the design of the T-2, but like the CompM2, can't bring myself to replace the T-1 because... it still works.

CompM4 on a work rifle: Switch issue. WAY out of warranty. Aimpoint didn't care, fixed at no cost.

I WANT to keep buying their stuff, but they're messing up in reverse. No need to buy more.
