Getting damned tired of the Fox News app on my iPhone. Every time I try to scroll down to read more of a story, it opens some web page. No more. I just deleted the app. Serious about crackers

If it's anything like their mobile site, and it sounds like it is, I would expect nothing less. I won't click Fox News links posted here anymore because it became paywall, popup and popunder Hell. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

Fox News isn't what it used to be in any category. "Crom is strong! If I die, I have to go before him, and he will ask me, 'What is the riddle of steel?' If I don't know it, he will cast me out of Valhalla and laugh at me."

Is it as annoying as members that have huge avatars? Do you realize it loads this big at first when the page is opened?

Hate to say it, but Drudge is far worse. But, they gotta pay the bills somehow when you aren't. On its current trajectory, I believe the web will become fairly useless in 10-20 years. "We have a system that increasingly taxes work, and increasingly subsidizes non-work" - Milton Friedman

Did you come from behind that rock, or from under it? |
When news apps first hit the market they were a big improvement over mobile browsing. Then the industry realized they could force as many ads and filler as they wanted so most news apps now are absolute garbage. What's especially annoying are the ones that constantly beg for you to rate it. I deleted dedicated news apps from my phone a couple years ago and went back to mobile browsing news sites. On the iPhone a good ad blocker in Safari knocks out 95% of the crap. If you get an ad blocker that lets you load custom filters to Safari you can get rid of ads, pop-ups, overlays, etc. on sites you read regularly. I can view sites like Breitbart, Drudge, and The Blaze with no annoyances and if they insert new crap I just create a new filter. I currently use AdGuard Pro on the iPhone but there's others available with the same capability. Another method that works on some sites is to use Safari's "Reader View". When available it can help even if you don't run an ad blocker. "Every time you think you weaken the nation" Moe Howard
