The "Gambler" bids farewell: Kenny Rogers death.

I loved his songs. I sang them to entertain myself deep in the bowels of the Enterprise while on WestPacs.

RIP.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I had the opportunity to work with him once when he was performing at one of my clients venues and found him to be one of the nicest, most approachable and down to earth men I have ever me.

He will be missed

Fame is a funny thing. Back in the seventies, I was attending an annual tennis tournament at our coliseum. It was a week long event and all the top tennis players of the day would come and compete. Kenny Rogers had just left the First Edition to embark on his solo career and had given a concert in town the night before. On Sunday, between matches, there was a PA announcement, " Ladies and Gentlemen, we have with us today, seated in Section G, one of Nashville's favorite singers, Mr. Kenny Rogers." All eyes turned to Section G and there was Kenny sitting all by himself. He waved and there was a bit of courtesy applause but mainly, people didn't know who the heck he was. Things would have been quite different a few years later.

Sorry to hear it. I'm not a fan of that genré, but his death has left a big hole. RIP Kenny.
Prayers for kin and friends.
