Has your community bureaucrats hassled the local 4th of July celebrations with permitting issues? Here at Lake Tahoe (Nevada side), Washoe County commish made our permit apps have extensive evacuation plans is case of terrorist attack. We had to cancel parades, concerts, vendor fair and barely got a permit for the fireworks on the lake with the cravat that it would not be permitted next year without the evac plans. My wife’s sister in Redondo Beach sez all the fireworks along the beach communities were not permitted this year for the same issue. What’s going on? What’s next: Outdoor political rallies?

Heck, my neighborhood has a kids 4th of July parade every year, with a firetruck & police escort.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Commie jackwads can't stand America, so they discourage the celebrations.

In my town, there's absolute pandemonium with totally illegal fireworks everywhere - which is the key. Overwhelm them and they can't do much about it.

The .gov has employed large holding cages at the beach for the last few years, but it doesn't stop anything.

I say HOORAY, ham fisted .gov started this country in the first place!

They can kiss my rosy red ass.

Fortunately, not everywhere.
Where I live we have a kiddie parade down main street on the 2nd of July, a parade on the third down main street that is about 2/3 of our 2 hour one on the 4th.
And the fireworks start at 10:00 pm.
I love Wyoming.

Still 100% America here in Spencer,WV.

Kids parade, Old Glory flying all around town, Korean & Nam vets getting rousing applause & salutes, State Police, Sheriff Dept. City cops getting waved to by damn near everyone & the kids going bananas over the fire trucks, mayor allowed free pool day. City fireworks around 10pm. Yep, Mayberry here. Feels really good.

Today I learned this may be a Nevada thing. The Vegas shooting seems to have spurred a push for evac plans for outdoor events. My sister, who is visiting this week, said they don't need an evacuation plan; just get the hell out of her way.

It feels like something bad is stirring in the more populated areas of Utah. Every day for the last week or so, the local news have run stories on how scared the pets get, how to keep them safe, all the fires currently burning in the state, and today, a story on all the children who have been injured by fireworks in years past. Isn't that how restrictions usually start? To keep the children safe?

Next year, just ask for Quatro de Julio celebration permits.

Perhaps. Or perhaps not. There has to be some consideration of the danger that fireworks pose during this severe drought. Here's a picture from the porch of my daughter's apartment in Orem yesterday. Fire started by fireworks. I wouldn't be happy if this was happening by my property. I doubt that these restrictions are a precursor to cities in Utah attempting to set some kind of precedent for more permitting. If anything, Utah has relaxed its restrictions in the last few years with the legalization of mortars.

They sure wouldn't want try the S#^& here in Cecil Co Maryland. We just had about a 3 hour barrage of every sort of fireworks you could think of. Our State Police/Sheriff don't stop the fun even though 90% of the fireworks are illegal here. They would have to lock up half the county. While I don't blow up stuff my neighbors make up for it. Happy Fourth to All, Chris

I don't need fireworks, me. If I was an American citizen, I'd be down on the range ready to shoot as the sun came up, and still be there to read by the light of my glowing barrels when the sun went down.

None that I know of here in the liberal left Oregon. The city of north Plains, where I live, had a nice 15 minute parade and a spectacular fireworks show last night. We’re a population of about 3,000 people 20 minutes outside Portland.

The only fireworks restriction we have is no airborne fireworks. People just drive across the river and buy them in Vancouver Washington.

There were plenty of illegal fireworks in my town last night.

Tony.
