Yeah I am bringing my dive mask and snorkel and have researched some good snorkeling spots to visit. I would love to do a dive while I am there, but I don’t want to leave my mom alone that long.

For sure! I have a couple good star gazing apps.

Chef/owner Sheldon Simeon is arguably Hawaii's best chef and certainly a very popular one leading the resurgence of 'Hawaiian cuisine'. He's a local boy who made good on Bravo TV's Top Chef, while not winning the overall comp, his charisma and down home cooking style shone through making him a local hero of sorts. Highly recommend a meal at Tin Roof, also over in Wailea at the mall, he has nicer sit-down restaurant serving elevated familiar local dishes called
Lineage.
Edit- Found out Simon is no longer apart of Lineage, which is too bad their loss. Their fish specials were awesome.

StorminNorminI am having an AMAZING time here and much of it is due to suggestions from everyone! Today is my last day and I will fly back tomorrow. When I get back I will post a recap of what we did and upload some pictures. I will have to figure out how to upload the video of the Haleakala sunrise; I made a time lapse video of it. It was great but cold; I was well prepared because you guys said it would be cold.

sjtillNorman, you're making us homesick with your beautiful Maui photos!
Great sunrise photos--clear enough to catch Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa on the Big Island.
We've spent lots of time at Hosmer Grove. Did you see any native birds?
The Road to Hana--we did it many times. Not much at Hana, but the journey is definitely the destination. One of the photos looked like Waianapanapa. Did you get to see that?
Very glad you and your Mom had a fantastic trip and got to see so much!
Aloha nui loa!

Have you tried right clicking the icon and choosing the 'open image in a new tab'? It works for me.

flashguyVery nice presentation. It's obvious that you both had a great time. Thanks for posting.
I visited Maui in both 2008 and 2014. I did the Road to Hana and Haleakala in 2008 and didn't do them again in 2014.

On the way down from Haleakala we stopped at each outlook. I stopped at Hosmer Grove and LOVED IT!!! I could have sat there all day listening to and watching the birds. I saw lots of Iwi and got a picture of one but he was far away and for some reason I could not upload that picture for some reason.
We tried to stop at Waianapanapa, but they only let people in with reservations which I did not know and they were full so they made me turn around without entering.

Aw man that sucks! When I open the post I see them, but probably because I posted them. I am using the hosting site of one of our members.

It is unreal how so many things worked out for us. It is as if the angels were with us. Even got a call from the Old Lahaina Luau letting us know a spot opened up for us if we wanted to come. They were fully booked until December, but it was the day we did the sunrise and we were totally exhausted from that day. It was such an amazing trip.

At least check out the sunrise! I think I captured an amazing picture of it. I also did a time lapse video of the sunrise that came out amazing.
