MRBTXThe public roadways are not your racetracks
https://hoodline.com/2026/08/h...cally-injures-child/This is a rant. Last Saturday a 21 yr old driving a C8 corvette tried to run from DPS on loop 337. From what I've read this was not a prolonged pursuit, the driver-now deceased- was obviously speeding, apparently saw a unit close by, and decided to run. He hit a mother and her 12 yr old son, turning left at a light controlled intersection across 337. The 12 yr old has a fractured femur, 5 broken ribs and has gone through multiple surgeries. If you need to see pictures, they're out there. The vette looks like it was hit by a bomb.
I'm a 30 yr retired cop and wrote two wheelbarrows full of tickets in that time. More importantly a Grandpa of a 1 yr old. I've had fast cars, still have one. I can't imagine the grief of the family whose child's life has been altered like this because of a foolish 21 yr old's senseless acts. I don't live far from where this occurred, that's likely why it bothers me so much. Teach your kids that life is precious, the consequences of stupid decisions can last forever.
I'm done.

P250UA5I did my fair share of speeding in my youth, foolish at times, but rarely in areas where cross traffic was possible. Slow car fast vs fast car slow, always had rather 'regular' cars, where pushing it rarely reached illegal soeeds.
Having kids slowed me down a lot, now 5 over is about it for me.

Captain MorganMy nephew just got a motorcycle. I think he's gonna die on it. He had video's of himself speeding while he was in his mustang well over 100 mph. I envision him doing this on his bike...

P250UA5I didn't get into motorcycles until I was in my late 30s. I'd slowed things down quite a bit, and was on cruisers. Probably would've been stupid if I'd been on a sportbike when I was younger.
Been thinking about getting another bike, but more distance comfort than outright speed.
I got my doors blown off by 2 bikes, nearly 20 years ago. Coming up from Houston at around 2am, I was cruising around 90 & they passed me like I wasn't moving. Had to be 140+

Prefontaine21 years old and C8 don’t mix. Not unless the father was present and/or they were doing a trackday with professional instruction. Obviously you don’t run from the Police either.
Seeing more of this locally on the highways. People with no skill, and not training, excessively speeding.
What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

HRKSuperspeeders, that's what they are labelled in FLorida, you get caught and it's immediate jail, car impounded. Lots of internet youth money chasing high performance cars.
But you'd be surprised at the number of economy minded vehicles they catch going 50 over, or over 100 mph on busy freeways.

That's what happened to this guy I used to play Delta Force Blackhawk Down with years ago, just one day he didn't log in. Then the next day, and then a week, and a month. Like 9 months later he hops online, "where the fuck you been!?" 9 months in jail for driving way too fast.

IIRC, not sure if it's TX or just Houston.
50+, double the posted limit & anything over 100mph was charged as something like felony reckless driving.

CPD SIGThese assholes were involved in a street takeover, pointing a rifle out the window of the truck.
Car chase, another chase, speeds over 100mph.
And you see the end result in the video in the article.
-/+ 200 ft airborne, hit the train car it knocked it off the track.

1s1kIt’s been happening since the second car was sold. The problem now is even a Camry is faster than 90% of the muscle cars from the 60’s and 70’s. Driving an actual 500+hp car can get you into trouble very fast.
