wrightdneed advice on metal shelving
I want to buy a single metal shelving unit, closed variety (not open shelves, but closed back and sides), 36 in W x 24 in D x 84-96+ inches high. Seven to eight shelves. Medium to Heavy duty. BUT, the choices and price ranges are endless. I don't want any flimsy quality pos, but I don't need the most heavy duty either, because this is for reworking my home garage and will be used for storing liquid and solid lawn chemicals, bulky tools, and the rest will be nails, screws, paint brushes, and everyhing else that doesn't already have a place in my tool boxes, open shelving, and pegboards.
Any help or advice narrowing it down much appreciated, including what brand(s) to avoid, etc. or any specific recommendations based on what you have or know about. And how can I get around the high shipping costs involved ? I don't want to pay $150 shipping for a $399 shelving unit, that's just too much.
I've thought about building one, but I'm not a welder. I could build a wood unit, but I don't want that type of bulk and all the wood attracting mice etc.

cruiser68I put one of these in my garage at a second home where I want to be able to lock it. I would say it is medium duty (50lbs per shelf) but it looks nice, works well, and has held up well in Florida humidity for a couple years. Pretty sure I could break into it in about 30 seconds if i tried but I'm just looking to keep renters out of my tools.

signewtMy recent research into local units similar to your description located numerous choices at both CostCo & the Home Depot/Lowes big boxes. Sides/back are less common/higher priced. Also state office surplus properties have amazing deals. I have numerous lateral sliding drawers that are easily 3x weight capacity of cheap consumer version, cost me $50/unit.
