Maybe this is a chance to make the investigation confidential again. The politicians and the intelligence community have seemed so shaded to me. That was my main beef with Comey. Selective disclosure and having politics center on him was not professional. But, it will probably leave the presidency in limbo for a long time. The President will be weakened by the years of clouding that will ensue. On the bright side, it will probably be better than what has been going on. I do think the special counsel will not have any patience - or mercy - for leakers. Hopefully, he will also avoid making selective disclosures to drive more politics like Comey did. So, realistically, what does this even mean? I mean seriously. Unless the repubs turn against the President in force, they don't have the votes. What it means is the 24 hour news cycle is now guaranteed to cue up the "I told you so" idiots. At the end of the day, nothing will happen. I think we all know it. Not so, according to the discussions so far. Mueller is special counsel, not special prosecutor and apparently will take over the existing FBI investigation now bereft of top leadership, both the recused AG and fired Director.
