BREAKING: GOA and GOC Thank the Trump Administration for Designating Firearms Industry as Essential

Springfield, VA – President Trump’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has revised its guidance of critical infrastructure to include the firearms industry as part of the Essential Critical Infrastructure. This revision comes shortly after Gun Owners of America (GOA) and Gun Owners of California (GOC) sent a letter to the administration urging inclusion of the firearms industry.

The guidance specifically includes “[w]orkers supporting the operation of firearm or ammunition product manufacturers, retailers, importers, distributors, and shooting ranges” as part of the Essential Critical Infrastructure.

GOA Senior Vice President Erich Pratt said, “It is very encouraging to see CISA include the firearms industry as essential. In these uncertain times, the ability to protect yourself — and to acquire firearms, magazines and ammunition — should not be ignored. GOA/GOC thanks the Trump Administration for listening to our letter and ensuring that Americans can protect themselves in these difficult times.”

Well done GOA to bring this Federal recognition for what we see as obvious. Thank you President Trump!
Here in Texas the TSRA has already helped secure this from Gov Abbott, and Texas AG.
Great to see ranges included, this way I can go to the range while this shelter in place is in effect. I am exercising after all.

The stupidest thing about all these exemptions, as various businesses are excused from complying with the stay at home orders, is that the barbers and hairstylists are the only folks locally who are NOT exempt!

Hell, the local Ford dealership has been exempted. Why? Because they "...may need to fix an ambulance if it breaks down." Q: Has an ambulance ever broken down? A: "No. Not in the last 20 years."

And as a non LE/Military contract gunshop employee, who has spent the last 15 days dealing with the 1st time buyers, hoarders, mouth breathers, gang bangers and chest thumping "ITS MA RIGHT!" dickheads, I am not happy to be kept open and forced into contact with them. Just because they were too lazy/cheap/stupid to prepare adequately before now.

Poor planning on their part, does not constitute an emergency on our part. Luckily, the owner is a nice fellow. He is putting us employees above making a dime. And we will be closed until further notice. Regards 18DAI

Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)

My question is has anybody ever heard of this agency before?

Actually I was in a business meeting with my fellow chimney sweeps two months ago and one of them was googling something in reference to the CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America) and found something on active shooter training which I thought was kind of strange until I realized they had punched in 'CSIA' wrong... and it was probably 'CISA' that they keyed in....

I guess North Carolina's so-called Governor Ray-Roy Cooper's head just exploded. In his stay at home executive order the notoriously anti-gun cooper tied business closings to CISA exempted businesses. Cooper is a do nothing who takes his orders from his New York and California financiers and his idol, Virginia's gun hating governor.

Poor, poor Roy, now go back to sleep and leave the adults in charge.

Sdy wishing we were congress posted it in the coronavirus thread last night amid contentious sideline opinions ... I was too blurred to comment. But yeah, that is solid news for everyone. Even dyed-in-blue California democrats who might want to protect themselves (although don't they have to wait 30 days?).

President Trump’s Department of Homeland Security released updated guidelines naming gun manufacturers and retailers as essential on Saturday, which means they are to stay open and operational nationwide during a Chinese coronavirus shutdown.

The DHS guidelines list as essential:

Workers supporting the manufacturing of safety equipment and uniforms for law enforcement, public safety personnel, and first responders.

Workers supporting the operation of firearm or ammunition product manufacturers, retailers, importers, distributors, and shooting ranges.

CA has a ten day waiting period and a one gun a month policy, I believe. Didn't keep up so much after I fled.

I work in a gun store and I still go to work. I kinda believe if I assumed the privilege I assume the risk. Sure glad cops and firefighters and nurses aren't opting to stay home. Yes, people planned poorly. Now they need guns. Am I going to say I'm saying home cause I might get sick? Well, I spent 20 years in a federal prison/medical center/hospice protecting the public from nasty ass sick convicts. No need to get cold feet now.

No cold feet here. Just lucky to have a shop owner who is tired of the dumbasses too. And I don't consider it a "priveledge". At all. Just a part-time job.

But good luck to you! Wink
