No different than tornado-season and the litany of alerts which are sent out. There's a difference between tsunami watches, advisories and warnings...it's up to 'joe-public', to pay attention to the announcements and determine when to move to higher-ground. You can stick around but, it may be too late once the obvious is upon you.

Keep in mind the 2022 tsunami that hit the coast of CA did a fair amount of damage along the shoreline areas. If you were a boat owner, a harbor master, fisherman or any business dependent upon people enjoying the coast...many docks and piers were destroyed and certain areas had their electrical transformers flooded resulting in neighborhoods being without power. Even without a tsunami, last year there was a series of large tidal surges creating big waves into harbor areas, Santa Cruz harbor was the hardest hit by those big rollers.

Kamchatka is the correct noun. Kamchatsky is the correct "adjective" such as Petropavlovsk‑Kamchatsky according to my wife who lived in Petropavlovsk for a year.
