TV replacement time

I am surprised when some of you seem pleased that you got 5 years use from a TV.

Last TV I bought was a 65" Panasonic plasma for over $2,000. Considering the pace of changes in technology, I would be happy to spend $700 for a 65" TV that lasts 5 years.

How important is motion rate?

I see lesser priced TV's have MR 120, while more expensive sets have an MR of 240.

55" and over motion rate becomes very important, mainly with fast moving scenes (think sports). Under that size you don't even notice a difference. On the size tv you're looking at, none of the specs will really make a difference.

Just my luck. I bought a 65" Samsung 8000 series (240 motion rate) tv at Costco on Sept 2nd for $1580. I open today Costcos flyer and Nov 17-27 the very same tv is $1280. Of course my Costco credit card only offers price matching for 60 Days!!!!!!!!!! Costco has a 90 day return policy and while I could return it and buy the same new tv to save $300, I'm not going to go through that hassle and it's not really ethical.

Check it carefully. One of my video displays seemed dead yesterday. It would not turn on. After some fiddling, and mild appropriate cursing, I elected to plug it in to a different outlet, and voila! Maybe a cat had jostled the plug or something. Anyway, rather than dashing off to Costco or Best Buy in haste, give it a thorough checking out.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

24-30 inches? Do you sit right in front of the TV? What sources do you feed this tv?

I had same situation, told the manager, they returned TV and resold it to me off the bar code, I didn't actually have to physically return it.
