What a pessimistic bunch! Sounds like No Exit where Sartre postulates that hell is other people. I guess if you listen to the news 24/7 or play Leonard Cohen again again you might feel that way. I do not think social media has anything to do with such a negative attitude.

^^^^^^^^^^^ Remember it used to be Television that corrupted us. Violent programs and movies. Blaming social media is just an excuse. You can take it or leave it. Football was blamed for promoting aggression in boys.It is just BS. People need to take responsibility for their behavior. Something else will come along.

Back, and to the left |
In the case of a driver closing fast, it is not only avoiding his tailgating confrontation but putting his ass out front. That way he can act as a lightning rod for any police ahead. Good way to get rid of them either way.

I blame it on social media. Despite modern vehicles having driving nannies built in, crashes and collisions are up, up, up. I have never seen such poor driving in all my life. I run errands close to the house and every time I do it, I have to dodge someone, use the horn, and/or avoid a wreck. I was exiting the gas station last night, in the correct lane position, if that makes sense, on the right, heading to the exit out onto the street. I left a massive gap to my left for someone turning into the gas station. This clown turns in, drives right at me, like he was going to hit me, then turns to his right after I lay on the horn and offers no apologies, etc. I wanted to skin it and dump a mag into his back glass. Every drive I have a story like this. Every single drive. The driving is awful on the streets. I had a MRI today. It was extremely painful. I loathe that cocoon, and then some. I don’t have full blown claustrophobia or anything but who likes being rammed into a coffin? The buzzing and beeping noises and being stuck in that bitch. I get there, trying to prepare myself mentally, and after dealing with a bunch of ass holes on the tollway. A guy is in there on his phone, playing videos etc on speaker. He had a certain look, and I took a walk outside. There was a sedan parked there, not that old but raggedy. All 4 wheels had curb rash. Paint falling off the hood, and I mean again the car wasn’t that old. No front plate. I put 2 and 2 together and say out loud in a mostly empty parking lot: “That mother fucker in there is California. The attire, the style, etc.” I walk around to the back of that car, sure enough, Got Damn California plates. I saw plates from 5 different states today, and 2 South American countries. We are getting all the assholes. The narcissistic pieces of shit from California. The H1B Visas. It’s awful and only getting worse. It’s dangerous to drive around here. Millions have moved here and I’m sure some are good people, but the majority are complete assholes. I honestly think they got on a hype train, from social media, to move here, and did. And there are so many of these people who are bitterly disappointed and take it out on everyone in society. Nobody put a gun to your head and made you move here assholes. Go back to where you came from and get the fuck off my lawn. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Hey! I really like Leonard Cohen! Sisters of Mercy. Suzanne. Banjo Song. Hey, That’s No Way To Say Goodbye. They cause antisocial behavior?

I just had a conversation about this today. As always this is a multi-faceted issue. I think one element of it is this phenomenon of flying into an outright rage if you feel disrespected by someone. People literally lose their minds and all self control if they feel slighted. People are tearing up restaurants, convenience stores, big box stores, starting brawls, etc. The other element of it is all of these laws that are getting passed against defending yourself or property across the country. It's an open door to for people to take liberties with you because they know good people won't fight back if the law says they can't. They also know the odds are in their favor of not getting caught, and NOT in the favor or their victims. Remember, their victims have to call authorities and if they cross the line in their defense they are guaranteed a ride downtown. Not to mention the ability of the criminals to sue their victims in these situations. I think generally speaking there is a lot of anger out there, people are frustrated, feel helpless in a lot of areas of their lives and when something happens that they feel they can exercise some control over in an aggressive manner, they will. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I like him too, but some of his songs are downright depressing. Certainly not antisocial, but not uplifting. Everybody knows is not a happy little refrain.

This problem is certainly multifaceted, but a large driver is a few generations of a lack of discipline in child rearing. Used to be, there was accountability for misbehavior, and kids learned at a young age what was accceptible. Your parents would knock you on your ass, teachers would paddle your ass, etc.... Nowadays, kids (and adults) do what they want and behave how they want when they want without any consequences for said behavior. Allegations of child abuse, racism, or some dreamed up "-phobia", prevents any discipline. Is it any wonder why we are where we are with this? ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

I agree w/ others who have asserted that courtesy and manners have been replaced by self-entitled prigmatism. But on the road, there is another equally troublesome factor that may be w/o malicious underpinnings: we have a large influx of people who retain driving behaviors common in areas like taiwan, china, hong kong, etc. There is no driving courtesy, in my experience there. And then they bring the behavior here. Not entirely malicious per se, just an utter failure to "do as romans when in rome" assimilate. A lot of people do what they can get away with. The roadway is an excellent place to practice asinine behavior because it largely anonymous and pretty safe from true repercussions. The police damn sure don’t do any sort of traffic enforcement around here. I doubt most of these people would be such assholes in a face to face setting. Those that do so find themselves universally disliked and on the spot. Then the primitive minds have a melt down. As far as music, internet and TV influencing all this, I believe it does. All the adds you see do work. If they didn’t work you wouldn’t see them. People are influenced by what they see. They also see other assholes getting away with bad behavior. “That’s what.” - She

I went to WallyWorld to get tires yesterday morning. Was there as the auto shop opened. Dropped off the car and went to the bathroom. Some self entitled shitbag decided to fill the toilets with all of the tissue. Dammit I hate people. On a side note, while shopping for motor oil and filters, I overheard a woman needing a battery, and they couldn't get to it for at least 3 hours. They had 3 people call out "sick". I interjected and said I have tools in my car, I'll install it. I said buy the battery, I'll get you on your way. Got the old one out, after the positive cable attach disintegrated, got a replacement and had her start the van. Took maybe a total of 15 minutes. She tried to give me $20 which I refused to take. I had nothing better to do anyways. The rest of the needy screaming "I gottan have it now" though... The nerve of some people and what they will do to younger people. One had me stand up about to pop my mouth off at him. But he stormed off and I muttered good riddance. Fuck, I hate people. He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.

Well done! Brings to mind a "pay it forward" philosophy which I think could dramatically reshape communities. I'm not talking about the drive thru phenomenon of paying for the person behind you, but instead I'm talking about what SC did for a total stranger. If the good people in the community "pay it forward" we'd live in a much friendlier and happier community.
