I hate these kind of posts, I really do…having to say goodbye to a beloved dog. We found out Zack has cancer Tuesday, it’s already spread through his lungs. We have an appointment with our vet tomorrow at 9a to put him down. We’ve had him for nine years, he’s been a good protector for my little family. Say a prayer please, if you’re so inclined. My sweet wife is having a hard time… we all are.

I went through this with my best buddy six months ago. Be prepared to cry and just let it go when you do. Honestly I wailed. It hurt bad. It is very tough. All I can say is take it one day at a time. I am really sorry for you guys. It is one thing to lose a beloved family member to old age. It is another to lose them before their time. Prayers for you all brother.
I went through this a few months ago. I'm sorry. But this is the price we pay for the time we're granted with these magnificent beings. Consider yourself lucky for having had the opportunity to spend time with, and be loved by, such a wonderful individual.
We lost our second dog, also a German Shepherd to cancer several years ago.
We noticed that Nikki was not jumping up and sleeping on her couch as was usual. Then, we noticed she would wince while walking down the back three steps to go into the yard.
We took her to our vet and after x-rays found she was loaded with cancer. We brought her home and two day later she threw a seizure and never came out of it.
We ran Nikki over to the emergency vet and had her put down. I stayed with Nikki through the entire procedure. To say I cried like a baby would be ab understatement.
