RIP, General Powell.
Said it for me.
And me. RIP.

Sorry to learn of his passing, even though I didn't approve of some of his policies.
And 84 may be "a good run", but I'm only 2 months and 3 days from 84, so I take it a little personally.

Didn't agree one iota with his politics in his post-military years, but I can at least appreciate his military service to this country.
May he Rest in Peace......

Well it was probably more the cancer treatments that destroyed his immune system that allowed Covid to kill him. Happened to an aunt of mine back in the spring, she was vaccinated but they found she had cancer, previously undetected and the treatments basically shut your immune system off, then she got Covid and that was that.

He had cancer.
He had Parkinson's.
He died of COVID.
A 94 year old lady we knew fell, broke her hip and died. Cause of death: COVID.
Her son took the death certificate to the doctor who signed it and told him "You're full of shit."

My deeper understanding is that because of the blood cancer which impacted his immune system (not necessarily the chemo), he never developed the right immunity to the vaccine that he toook.
I really don’t care one fuck. He’s just another shitty disloyal politician headed to the boiling lake of black pitch, just beyond the bolgas of the seventh layer. Sword guards the bridge. The lake is rimmed by demons.

Crucially, Powell suffered from a blood cancer known as multiple myeloma — precisely the kind of “immunocompromised” condition that experts have said from the start could lead to lower vaccine efficacy. In fact, the vaccines seemed to work especially poorly in patients afflicted with that type of cancer, even after a booster shot. (Powell also suffered from Parkinson’s disease, a neurodegenerative condition.)

He publicly stated he voted for Hillary and dementia Joe. Not sure if he hated trump but stated he thought he was disgrace. Lied to the UN so there’s that.
At least he’s not in pain anymore.

agreed - he was a good general officer and I appreciated everything he did while in uniform - after that, not so much

If I am not misrembering what I read in General Norman Schwarzkopf's book "It Doesn't Take A Hero" after the war, he had some rather unflattering comments about Powell
