Seeing Spring break crowds and the need for the police to quell the outlandish behavior of the crowds make me think a lot of the populace is just itching for a fight. Combine that with the Antifa and BLM crowds still causing damage to public and private property and I wonder what is happening to our country.

Seemingly almost everybody is yelling racism over every issue. I know the Covid restrictions have ticked off a lot of people but where is the self control we used to have or is my memory fading with age?

In regards to Spring break and college crowds, nothing has changed. Drunk college kids that do stupid things is nothing new. They might use covid, and being woke as an excuse, but that is all nonsense.

Well, it's quite incongruous, isn't it? Because what 2020 and now 2021 has taught me is that the American people are way more subservient and obedient to their overlords than I ever would've believed beforehand. Anarchy? Hardly.

I think its a bit more than that. We now have college kids who've been locked inside for much of last year, all the while being bombarded with a continual scream of BS about this virus and the state of their country, with a special emphasis on our police forces. I think it's really put them on edge and looking for a release, and when the police respond to quell the craziness, their response to the police is over the top. 'Everything' and 'everyone' in this country needs to take a huge chill pill and mellow out, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Falling Down, lots of William "D-Fens" Fosters out there, lost jobs, perhaps lost family, been locked down from either fear or pressure from society.

See it daily, just watch the way people drive, and the way people are reacting to the new driving experience.

A couple of the Florida stories I read indicated that it was not just college kids causing the problems, but older adults as well.
I would bet the $1400 stimulus financed the trips.

The "quality" of driving has definitely taken a nose-dive over the past few months, at least here in north Alabama!

Not sure what "the new driving experience" is though...

The press reports are coming from Miami South Beach. That spring break crowd has a history of going overboard, disregard for the law, etc. Ft. Lauderdale is busy but not crazy like that - and Deerfield Beach is the same. Yes, there is less masking and more crowds, but overall it is less crazy than in the past.

Lake Boca every weekend always has a lot of boats on the weekend rafted up, with spring break even more have shown up but frankly it is no different than most any other weekend. I would not draw any conclusions based on media reporting - they will amplify one area and then call that out as all. I’m sure lots of other spring break gatherings are going on, but the media has a narrative to indict Florida, IMHO. I just read a hit piece that Florida screwed up opening the vaccine to 60, 50 year olds, teachers, etc. but California and New York have done so much better Roll Eyes.

I do think everyone is fed up, ready to start their lives an fewer are paying any attention to media narrative.

Just the way people drive today, aggressive, faster speeds, irritable, confrontational, used to be you ran into one of these people in a big city now and then, today, almost everyone seems to be driving that way, it's as if the mantra is, nobody else gives a shit or follows the law, so why should they...

People just seem significantly less courteous, as a whole.

Think I'll get me a used F350, install a a cattle push bar, maybe some steel drop down window inserts, ala the Punisher..... LOL

yep, our governor is not towing the Media's line of how people should live, indoors, watching them tell you, how you should worry.

Should have been there when Desantis came to Bike Week, people from all over the country thanking him for having Florida open and wishing he was their governor.

Not sure how you can tell whether they are students of art compared to other students just by looking at them in their swimwear....

Gotcha, and fully agree! Aside from all of the things you mentioned above, which I see daily in this relatively small town, is a fairly new one... people who refuse to dim their headlights at night! They just drive around with the high-beams on constantly, and no amount of "flashing" my brights at them has any effect! Mad

Exactly. What we have here is a large crowd of city dwellers all with a fat stimmy check in their pockets.

I believe it is a combination of things. Feelings and not being offended are now more important than individual rights. That is one biggy. Another is that there may be more people showing up due to population increase. Another is probably cabin fever attributed to everything COVID. Also, the ANTIFA/Defund the Police and BLM riots have to be a certain level of influence as well.

That probably is their low beams. Tons of people are out their buying shitty cheap LED bulbs for their cars right now, and almost none of them are good. They don't replace the housing with one that matches their new lights, and they scatter light all over and blind everyone.

Back to the original topic, I think everyone is itching for a fight. People all over are unhappy now, in large part due to social media. If all you ever see is everyone on vacation all the time, it's pretty easy to be upset with your circumstances even if they are really better than any generation in this country has ever had it.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Seemingly almost everybody is yelling racism over every issue.

The left is pushing this:

On college campuses, dormitories are now segregated by race, graduation ceremonies are also segregated by race as ethnic studies (promoting anti-white radicalism) proliferate and students are choosing to isolate by race. Previously illegal racial quotas, now favoring minorities in hiring, are becoming the norm. Reparations are being openly discussed and the door opened in the recent $1.9 Trillion Covid relief package wherein only Black farmers received taxpayer funded $5 Billion for debt forgiveness up to 120% of the loan balance.

Not content to limit using the “systemic racism” and “white supremacy” canards to create racism and foment racial animosity, the American left is utilizing these fig leaves to initiate unfettered censorship and the abrogation of free speech. Every despot in modern times has isolated and targeted a specific group of people as apocalyptic threats to their nation and thus censorship and denial of free speech for the citizenry becomes mandatory to “save” the country. The militant adherents of Fascism and Communism were particularly adept at this practice.

The modern American left are the new Fascists as they have declared “white supremacy” to be the existential threat to the nation (even though less than 3% of Americans express strong support for white nationalism). Therefore, any articles, current or previously published books, social media entries or speeches by anyone of European ancestry that does not conform to the approved language and philosophy of the radical left must be censored and the author ostracized for the good of the country.

The Democrat Party Has Declared War on America

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
