Upon retiring at the mandatory age, can one freeze his pension till they decide to take it or is it mandatory to take when they retire?

You must collect your pension, but you do not have to collect from your TSP (federal government version of 401k). Also since we are mandatory at age 57, we are entitled to a supplement which is approximately equal to what social security benefits would be from retirement to age 62.
