And I had just arranged to have painters come back to patch siding that was painted in the winter during rainstorms; paint on side of garage did not bond. Crap. Got to bring in anything that might blow away. At least we'll get rain. Better than a hot, dry Santa Ana wind bringing fire weather. _________________________ “ What all the wise men promised has not happened, and what all the damned fools said would happen has come to pass.”— Lord Melbourne

SoCal gets rain but doesn't get downpours, especially this time of year. Clear all drains and run-off areas, ripe conditions for flooding due to obstructed flow areas.

We had a really wet winter and haven’t really had fire season yet, so maybe the mud slides won’t be as bad. Be interesting to see if I get much rain in Ventura County. ...Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, was just a freight train coming your way...

I glanced at Surfline 2 days ago and it said 15-18 feet in Huntington Beach! It's changed but I was excited to see it! God, Family, Country.

i hope it spreads north all the way to the canadian border and inland a 1000 miles and dumps a cool rain for days. That would be awesome Probably ain't going to do much since the weather forecasters are falling all over themselves warning of a pending disaster "Practice like you want to play in the game"

I was living in Boca Raton, FL when category 5 hurricane Andrew hit. I survived that one, and will likely survive this one. In general, we usually can use rain in these parts. Serious about crackers

All those homeless people living in/along LA's concrete rivers and the washes and gullies in SoCA better figure out the storm rather quick. The news will be filled with their 'sad' stories and all the upcoming mudslides. Folks - it's coming. Be prepared. _________________________________________________________________________ “A man’s treatment of a dog is no indication of the man’s nature, but his treatment of a cat is. Haven't seen a ton of worry on here about this storm, is it not as bad as it seems? My wife's friend in Bakersfield is having a minor panic about it, as they're in the Lake Isabella flood zone. Initial forecast seems to show around 3" rain expected for the Bakersfield area. Having been through 2 hurricanes here in Houston & multiple heavy trop storms, this one doesn't seem terrible by comparison, other than it being way out of the norm for the area. The Enemy's gate is down.

It is almost never as bad as the media makes it seem, no? That has been my observation, anyway. That being said, that part of the world isn't used to a lot of rain at once (or at all) and that surely could cause issues if a lot does indeed happen. SoCal isn't used to this sort of thing like those of ya'll on the opposite coast of the country. We shall see.

I have watched and lived through a bunch of hurricanes living in Texas and mostly Florida. This whole story seems to be designed to be the worst possible scenario. I looked at a bunch of news reports on the storms path. They all showed the same path. Staying offshore along the coastline which keeps it a tropical storm strength when it reaches the border. Here is my question. Where are all the spaghetti string computer models? I am no meteorologist but if this thing wobbles into Mexico it will lose force much quicker than this offshore model. I am just cynical enough that they don't want to show the string models because if they show that version is more likely it isn't as good of a story. The climate changers have the best job. If a TS hits it is climate change. If it doesn't hit, record drought which is climate change. Whatever happens they weave the narrative to fit. Ugh.

Current forecast is heavy rain Sunday night, strong winds but mostly in mountains and desert east of San Diego. There will be major flooding in desert and mountains. We are supposed to get 2-3 inches which is a lot in 24 hours. Our own house should be in good shape. We’re at the top of a hill, pretty decent drainage away. Nothing above us to slide. Prepared for power outage. Path of Hilary will be up Baja peninsula where storm will lose power pandemic becomes tropical storm. _________________________ “ What all the wise men promised has not happened, and what all the damned fools said would happen has come to pass.”— Lord Melbourne
