Impressions of Dallas - Ft Worth: We just spent a week with my son and daughter-in-law who are living in Ft Worth, just a few observations... The Bad: * Folks, your signage on roads is a fucking joke. * Folks, you are the most fucked up drivers on the entire planet (Stay with me don't get pissed) * WTF way is North? I need a mountain or two ![]() The Good: * You are so very, very nice. So many people asking us to move in front of them in a store line because we had a couple of items. * Dang it seemed nice just to be able to talk to strangers. You guys are friendly as hell. * 2A seems to be a non-issue. I was asked what I carry in Utah. I mentioned Sig, they jokingly told me to go Berretta. * Food. Dang great steaks and Tex-Mex (go figure) was fantastic. The Fun: * I'm past the drinking but we went to a Sunday brunch. The locals were having a pretty good party at 10:30 AM. Nobody obnoxious but starting to have fun. * Just checking out the area and encountering "normal" helpful and friendly people. Texans are pretty dang cool. Overall: * Residents are impressive as hell. * I'll be back. Epilogue: * Why don't some of y'all come to Utah. We're pretty nice folks too.

I've lived in both - SLC/Sandy Utah and Austin/Round Rock Texas. I'd give my right nut to be back in Utah.

You needed to try the barbecue, especially the brisket. Start w/ Goldee's and Panther City in Ft Worth.

Technically, Austin isn't Texas any more, right? (Friends in the state, we lived in DFW 6 years, son and wife still in Bastrop) Loved the state, would gladly move back. You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02

Correct. It’s homeless, hippies and weirdos. "Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor.” Robert A. Technically I would agree, Austin is not so good. I won't move to Texas ( too flat ![]()

You were never here unless you visited Buccees. In addition, Houston has worse drivers. If the job market wasn't so good I'd move.

There are actually 8 different mountain ranges in Texas (mostly in West Texas). Texas is enormous and has regions that are wildly different than DFW (i.e. the praries and lakes portion of this map): ![]() I live in the Houston suburbs in the Gulf Coast, and it's a humid, coastal flood plain/swamp. Speaking of size, the Houston metropolitan area is 5% larger than Rhode Island.
