Another one in the totally satisfied column. I had one eye done 10 days ago and although I still have a one-month follow up exam pending, at this point I couldn’t be happier. Like so many people’s, my vision deteriorated over time and it was tolerable until a year or so ago. When I asked my optometrist when I should have the correction, it was, “When your vision is bad enough to want it.” Now my Aimpoint reticles are sharp round red dots again and even my conventional scope reticles are clearer. When asked by the surgeon what I wanted for my new vision I told him I wanted the best distance vision I could get, so what surprised me was that everything from just over arm’s length to infinity is in focus with the new, nothing fancy lens. I was originally thinking of having the other eye done with a lens that would return the monovision that I had most of my life, but now I believe I’ll opt to have both eyes the same. In reading about others’ experiences, I believe I was also fortunate that I saw or felt nothing during the procedure except a bright light in the subject eye that I was supposed to keep looking at. The numbing was with drops alone, but I also had an IV of something that, as the anesthesiologist explained it, didn’t put me out, but made it so I wouldn’t care what was happening—and I didn’t. May anyone who is considering the procedure have results that are as good as mine. ► 6.4/93.6 “ Enlightenment is man’s emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one’s own understanding without another’s guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one’s own mind without another’s guidance.” — Immanuel Kant

My dad had cataract surgery many years ago. Now, at 101, he totally forgot he had the surgery and brags about his great eyesight almost every day. "I'm 101 and never needed glasses". Lol. Q

Just reading this upsets me, remembering my grandfather. When my grandmother died he lost his reason to live. Basically spent the last 10 years on the couch. His only real activity was reading (just about anything). So when his cataracts got bad it stole the only thing he had. I can still remember seeing him sitting there with his hand covering one eye, while also holding a magnifying glass, while holding a book up to it an inch or two away. That was probably 30 years ago now and that image still crushes me. When he finally had it done it changed his life, and made the few remaining years at least a little better. My father will need to have it done soon. I don't doubt I'll need it one day as well, based on the signs.

Tabitha had both done last month. Standard lenses. Last night driving home, she spotted the deer along the road long before I did. She's VERY happy as she's never seen so well and the focusing muscles in her right eye was paralyzed. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.
