For farm/trail use, I would go with the ATV. You will have a tough time finding a good ATV in the $1500-2000 price range.
The Honda Trail 125 1KPerDay suggested is really what you're looking for in a low cost trail motorcycle. You're not going to find them new for under 4K however. It's not a performance machine. It is very easy to ride and approachable. It will do a good job getting you from point A to point B.

I doubt you'll find anything worth a crap in that price range.

For just riding on dirt roads, nice trails, across the pasture, etc. a TW200 would do fine, probably better yet a Yamaha XT250. Both are street legal. But at least in our market these bikes used, maybe 12-15 years old, bring $2,500+ depending on condition. Since street legal is not a requirement and if you can deal with a tall seat, you might search Facebook Marketplace for "used dirt bike" because ones that are not street legal tend to command lower prices. When I just searched here this is the first one that came up and actually looks pretty good for $2,000. https://www.facebook.com/marke...65-bb33-1738369a49e3
IMO a used quad might be more useful, it can go most any place a dirt bike can and more (in ice and snow for instance). And you can strap stuff like a saw, tools, etc., on the racks as well as pull a little utility trailer. Older ones especially 2WD generally go for $1,500 and up with decent 4WD ones starting around $2,000 and up.
No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

If you can find a Tote Goat in decent shape they last forever. Not built for speed, but simple and rugged.
Not terrible for a 'cheap' runabout, as long as you don't have the need to carry much that can't be carries on your person, and don't be in a hurry.

Thanks guys. I need something low geared I can put racks on it to carry items I need to move. A yamaha big bear at would be awesome too. Hard to find anymore that isn't trashed. Also a can am traxtor at would be good. Maybe an atv would be a good choice. But the right motor cycle would we be great tooThis message has been edited. Last edited by: old rugged cross,

For basic transportation around my 60 acres I bought a new Coleman BT200X at my local farm & ranch supply a couple of years ago. $500 on a Black Friday sale. I use it to putt around and check fences, trails and just for the fun of it. It's not dirt-bike fast, but it gets this old man around the place just fine. It's not small like an original mini-bike, but more like an adult-sized mini-bike. All my friends and their kids/grandkids want to ride it when they come over to visit.

There are a lot of cheap Chinese built 125-250 adult size dirt bikes. These are the sort of thing they sell all across Asia and are made extremely well.

Honda Fourtrax 300. Honda built over 1 million of these. They can be had either 2x4 or 4x4. The later models are better. I think it went out of production in 2000-2001. I have a 1998 model that still runs.
The Honda Foreman was the next step up IIRC. Bigger engine, selectable 4WD on those models.
Bottom Line IMHO, a Honda would be the best bet, followed by Yamaha.
