I work in tech support for an enterprise data storage company. I'm in the upper tiers of the support center. This week we have a few folks from our tier 1 facility visiting. That facility is located down in Costa Rica. Out of curiosity I looked up gun laws down there... abysmal! So I offered to take these guys out for an evening at the range after work. There was 5 of them - all of whom had never fired a gun before in their lives. We only had about 2 hours to burn.. but I did my best to make it memorable for them. I started them off with some 9mm out of a P320 - then moved to my Glock 20. From there we went MPX then Kriss Vector. After that - rifles! Barret Rec7, MCX SBR, Scar16 SBR, AK-47, Sig 716, Marlin 336w.... Then we finished the day with my Remington 870 and my Benelli M4. Good time was had by all and nobody died in spite of 5 brand new shooters :P They told me that probably less than 5% of their entire country has been able to have an experience like that. This is where my signature goes.

Sounds like a great time! Have you tried putting in an expense report for the ammo - you know, 'entertainment' expenses?? “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” - John Adams

That is cool! When I was in college a girl I met was studying abroad at my school, from The Netherlands. It was her first time to America and it was Fall quarter. She was blown away that we had access to guns and could shoot them freely. She was also ridiculously hot. It was only about a 15 minutes drive to legally shoot in public so me and a couple friends took her out. She was just floored that we could do it. And she loved shooting them. Made my day! _______________ Mind. Over. Matter.

Yes there's a monetary cost associated with the outing, but you made a memory for everyone that will last a lifetime. Great Job! That's quite the tour of firearms for a short period of time with 5 people. You had to have some planning involved to make it all safe. Kudos

Very cool - I'm sure they had a "blast!" Probably didn't have enough time to teach them about gun cleaning

Funny how so many with zero gun exposure love trips to the range

Very Nice! Kind of a tease tho :P My local indoor range came across a couple visiting from England. She looked at me and said, "I can't do this in Britain" and I said, "ya, I know." Showed her how to hold and trigger control the Model 10 she rented. She beamed once her groups were cut in half. — Pissed off beats scared every time… - Frank Castle

Several years ago I had a boss (friend) who enjoyed going shooting, when his father in law came to visit we always took him along (he had a Winchester 1897 12 gauge). Found out that the boss’s wife was scared to death of guns. Now she was a pretty good athlete, played golf, bowled, played softball, etc. so I challenged her to go shooting with her father and husband and me. Well we finally badgered her into it. I took a assortment of guns for her to shoot, we started out with clay targets, I started her out with a frisbee, straight away shots, gradually increased the angle (Ruger over under 20 ga skeet/sheet) then hand thrown clays. Then we went to a mechanical trap and she broke the first clay out of the trap, She was having a blast. Next I let her shoot some 22 rifle she got the hang of that real quick. Then we moved to 22 pistol at close range, did good there to. She really enjoyed single action 38/357. Then I broke out my Ruger super Blackhawk 44 mag, now her husband was sort of scared of that gun and he told her that, after watching me shoot it a bit and seeing what it would do she asked me if she could try it. Of course I said hell yes, showed her how to hold it and how it would roll up in her hand, the first shot she yanked the trigger hard, but you should have seen the smile on her face, she finished the cylinder and the smile grew with each shot. Her husband looked at me and said “you know that you have created a monster”. From then on anytime that we went shooting she would make sure to have someone to watch the kids so she could go.

Ive had a couple co-workers in the past Id like to have taken out, and not brought back... But a bunch of us from work did go for a team building exercise to Triangle Shooting Academy in Raleigh NC back in June on the company's dime.
