My best friend lives in OKC (Moore) OK. On the 24th he'll fly up here and stay the night with my boys and I; then on the 25th we leave for a 2 week vacation to OK by way of Mt. Rushmore. I will be scheduling a helicopter ride while at Mt. Rushmore for us but not sure what else is there. I'd also like to go to the St. Louis Arch as well but not sure what else is along the way there/back. Does anyone have any ideas?

We will spend probably 10 - 12 days in OK and stay at my friend's house while there. OKCGene, I didn't get to hook up with you a few years ago while I was down there, but this time would like to meet up. You still up for a get together in late May/early June? Anyone else in the OKC area up for a mini-get together? We'll arrive in OKC on either the 27th or 28th and stay until around June 7th.

So wait, you're going to OK via Mt Rushmore from Ohio? Driving?

yea, sd is a long way from Ok. or Ohio. Depending on time. Little Big Horn site is an amazing and worthwhile trip on the MT. SD border. Especially for your boys who would never forget it if they have never been. Maybe Devil's tower.

Wind Cave is in South Dakota. Also Custer State Park. Deadwood is there, and an interesting city. Some photos: https://www.flickr.com/photos/...s/72157622606173371/.

Recommend seeing the Crazy Horse Memorial that is near Rushmore. It's really impressive. There is also the Mammoth site. it's straight south of Custer. That is also a really neat deal to see.

Place your clothes and weapons where you can find them in the dark.

Someone recently told me that the Arch tickets were weeks in advance. Not sure if that is accurate but you may want to check. Last time I was there was 12 years ago and it was a several hour wait at that time.
Devils Tower is not too far from Rushmore and is worth seeing.
Spearfish Canyon was pretty good as well.

In OKC make sure to check out the OKC bombing memorial and the 45th Infantry Musuem. Depending on how you traverse MO, the Truman Presidential Library is in Independence, MO. Besides the Arch there are Busch brewery tours (free), STL Zoo (free), STL Science Center (free), Cardinals games, in KC there is the WWI museum.
