70th Anniversary of the Corvette
This year is the 70th Anniversary of the Corvette.

I wasn't aware of this until last minute but 30 June is National Corvette Day. On 30 June 1953 the first Corvette rolled off the assembly line. It is apparently the only vehicle that has it's own designated day of appreciation.

Are any corvette owners on the board doing anything special this year individually or with your clubs?

This is a bit of a special year for me as I own a 1988. It was built in the 35th model year and we are now 35 years past the year it was built.

My 2003 C5 is heavily modified. I had tracked it for the last nine years. Now, I just go on spirited drives 2 - 3 days a week. Still exhilarating.

Sold all the Corvettes I've had but it's still my favorite since I was a kid in the 60's sitting in them in my Grandfathers showroom floor.

Maybe another one day, probably a C3.

Own a '16 rag top, our second (previous '11 GS rag). 6/30 was "National drive your Corvette to work" day. We are retired, but did a short trip with local Corvette club that weekend to mark the day. For us, Corvettes are great fun.

We trudge on.

My 07 roadster (atomic orange) now has a stablemate, a 1968 roadster. Black over pearl.

Gone but remembered fondly.

Bought the first one in '73.

I was working at a chevy dealer in high school when the owner got a than new corvette 25th anniversary edition in. He put a stupid price on it so know one would buy it. He wanted it for his collection.

When I was around 12 the neighbor girl boyfriend used to come pick her up in a 1963 dark green split window corvette you could hear the corvette coming from 2 blocks away. That sound was somthing else. 327 4 speed 4.56 rear gear. I fell in love with corvettes oh and the neighbor girl was also very hot.

My 2007 Corvette stablemate is a 2018 65 anniversary Carbon 65.

My first 'vette was a '53. I bought it very used and abused, and then worked on it for many months. I was very proud......I wish I still had it.

I bought a 1962 Corvette in 1968, it was a terrific car for a young guy. So many stories still come to this old guys mind. I sold it for the adventure of trip across the US in a Volkswagen Van, more stories from 1970!

I didn't own another until 2003 when I ordered a new one. That served my wife and I well and I only sold it a few months ago. Sadly, I'll never own another.

I bought this one new in 1967. 350/327 3:36 M20 Marlboro Marron/Tan interior. Who is that snot-nosed kid?

I had a 65 with the 327/350 horse combo with 4 speed

I’d like to get another but people think they are made of gold. Also had a mustang GT in the 90s. I’d love to get an American V8 powered muscle or sports car. Can afford it. Just can’t justify it.

Just picked up a 2015 Z06 Auto with 4K miles on it. I am planning on driving it to Carlisle in August.

Haha, V-Tail, that reminds me of the couple of years I spent working at a grocery store.

There was a "moderately-attractive" lady who would come in on Saturdays and get her groceries and dog food. And by dog food, I mean to of the big ol' 50-pound bags of the stuff. It was all great fun chatting with her, until we had to take her groceries to her car.

Yep. She pulled up in a 'Vette, probably about a 1976 model. Eek We wrestled like heck to get all her stuff into that car. Every other Saturday....

(Apologies for the thread drift, Rightwire.)

God bless America.

If you managed to get a 50lb bag of dog food and other groceries in the back of a C3 Corvette, I am VERY impressed.

70 years, wow!

I am the original owner of this red 1996 C4 with the 330 HP LT-4 engine and ZF 6 speed manual transmission. This photo is a few (several) years old...
