I did a search for this topic and didn't find anything written yet about it in the Lounge. I use wireless Apple Airpods, love them, but I keep getting spammed on FB about these. Anyone? Again, if there's already a thread I didn't find it.....

Axil makes them, and I thought they were quite a bit cheaper direct from Axil, but maybe that was just the intro pricing. Tried them, didn’t like them, returned them.

Apple AirPods for ear protection? Apple recommends against it. AirPod Pro offer about 23 decibel reduction but for shooting that level is better than nothing but not as high as recommended.

Most audiologists recommend at least 25db reduction and 30db is recommended for long guns or large caliber handguns.

I don't know about the quality of the Sig earbuds but the website says they reduce sound by 29db. That is pretty strong.

Do, Or do not. There is no try.

I was very disappointed with the Axil earbuds. Scratchy audio and a very "tinney" sound. I've been using Peltor ear muffs for years and the comparison between the Axil and Peltor was a definite win for Peltor. To their credit, Axil promptly refunded my money.

I use Walkers. 25dB but it's been more than adequate for me in both indoor and outdoor ranges.

Using double earpro is optimal.
Foamies and then muffs
Foamies are rated around 30-35db reduction
Muffs are around 25db

I wouldn’t count on any fancy electronic noise blocking devise for ear pro.

I already have hearing loss and tinnitus from cannons, machine guns, and small arms fire from being in the service.

I religiously wore both when I was at the range training, and entering the engine rooms etc.

You should talk to an audiologist about their recommendation for earpro wrt gunfire.
