Looking for recs for gutter guards to be installed before fall rolls around. Lots of trees (none directly overhanging the house) and I'm already tired of going up on the ladder to clear blockages every two weeks or so, especially given how many storms we've been getting around here.

What do you all recommend for both quality of function, longevity and price?

Edit to add, this would be installed by someone else. I know my limitations on a high ladder.

I currently have some expanded metal style caps. They work well, but trap a lot of pine needles. A few spots where an upgrade would be beneficial [DIY in my case]

I installed them on my house and I hate them. The water pretty much just runs over them and on to the ground. It has caused a bit of water damage to some trim pieces

For the DIY crowd, I bought Raptor brand from Amazon last year and installed 600 linear feet on my house. They make 2 widths, stainless mesh with aluminum frame. Only been a little more than a year but so far, no buyer's remorse. The screen is a fine mesh that has kept the pine needles out.

Gutter Guard from Costco. Slides under asphalt shingle-self tapping screw to gutter. Fine mesh screen.

Unless there's not a pine tree within 20 miles, I do NOT recommend the Gutter Brush no matter how easy the installation is.

I installed foam baffles from Home Depot. I think I paid $5 for four feet. Anyway, these are like a simple trapezoid cross-section, and you basically mash them into the existing gutter.

What they have done? They have prevented all the single-wing flying seeds from collecting in the gutter. No more clogs at the downspout.

Do they last? Yes, to a point. If you have to replace them, so what? You drag the ladder out, climb it, and replace a section or two.

Compared to hundreds or thousands of dollars, these are the solution.

These are very similar to the, already installed, gutters on our house.
If your leaf debris is larger leaves, they should work well, but they act line pine needle traps and, while it keeps them out of the gutters, I still have to clean them out. Usually a rake will get the bulk of it.

If you have the small gutters & downspouts replace them with 6" and 3"x4" downspouts. That solved most of my downspout clogging problem.

I have large sycamores and maples close to my house. The leaves are bad enough, but the enormous amount of twigs that come off the sycamores clogged my downspouts on a regular basis. I'm at the age where playing on the roof and cleaning backed-up twigs and leaves out of the gutters was no longer appealing. Spent some time studying the different methods and brands before I pulled the trigger on Leaf Filter. I also had them install wider (6") gutters.

I would have much rather wrote a check for guns, bikes, or Vegas hookers. Having said that, I'm very, very happy with the quality of the Leaf Filters, the installation, and the results.

I have 6 inch gutters and 3x4 downspouts. They still clog from the neighbor pine tree. Maybe double the number of downspouts ?

Never found any gutter guard to work. Wet fall leaves would block water and oak pollen in the spring would clog them.

I posted in this old thread that I used Gutter RX Guards. It will be 10 years this fall when we installed them. The best leaf guards I've ever used, and I've tried quite a few types. I have never had a clogged downspout or had to go get on a ladder or the roof to clean my gutters since. YMMV

I put these on in 2017 and they have been trouble free since. No pine needles but lots of pin oak leaves.

I've considered them given that I am surrounded by Ponderosa pine. Man I hate these trees. Ankle busting cones and needles everywhere.

After I had my roof done last year, I also had the gutters done. My guy talked me out of them. He said that it might be a problem in the winter with snow/ice build up.
