TMats you made me laugh with that response, thanks for the chuckle. I have had a few that have sent me additional product if I would change my review. I have always declined the offer and maintained my review. I remember how frustrated I was when something did not work (like with the OP). My thought is that if everyone changes their review we will continue to get bad product from sellers.

You are correct. And it's been a long time, but as I remember it, I was leaving a review of the seller, not the product. The seller seemed to excel at buying used items from library sales and reselling them on Amazon. My item was tardy for the child's birthday party I attended. Tardy by well over a week. Now, I'm aware Amazon encourages working w/ sellers before leaving those reviews but if I'm showing up w/o a gift, someones getting dinged.

No one's asked me to change my review. However, I ordered a bluetooth speaker on a flash deal. It didn't sound good. I returned it and bought the next higher model at regular price. I placed a review on the bad model advising people not to buy it and to buy the more expensive model. I gave it a two star rating. The seller contacted me by email and offered to send me another of the more expensive model for my trouble for free. I got it and returned it unopened for a refund so I got the speaker basically for free except for S&H since my reason was I don't want it anymore. I changed my review to 5 stars but noted and changed the title as 5 stars for the company (Anker) but still 2 stars for the speaker. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Prepared for the Worst, Providing the Best |
I did one time...IIRC it was for a throttle cable for a cheap Chinese dirt bike. The part took over a month to get here, ended up being a cheaply made piece of junk (even worse than the OEM part) that was already broken when I unboxed it, and it didn't fit the bike. I left a review describing my experience, the poor description of the item, and the poor quality of the part. Seller contacted me and (in very poor English) offered to send me a replacement (junk) part if I would please change my review. I told them politely to pound sand.

Happens all the time. I'm honest about my reviews and will only give 5 stars to truly great products. If I get something and it's just ok, 3 stars, and I can usually expect an email offering bribes for a 5 star review. I appreciate that the companies will reach out and offer replacement items, but who would want a crappy replacement for a crappy item?

I have owners asking me to change my reviews on Yelp all the time. I usually oblige them with one that's even worse. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

I've never been asked to change a review. A couple times I've been asked to leave one, when I hadn't already. But I wasn't pestered about it. Then again: I'm fairly careful about from whom I'll buy. Most times: Unless I have no option, I won't buy unless it's Amazon, itself, selling it. Or an established, reputable seller or manufacturer. "America is at that awkward stage. It's too late to work within the system,,,, but too early to shoot the bastards." -- Claire Wolfe "If we let things terrify us, life will not be worth living." -- Seneca the Younger, Roman Stoic philosopher
