Just bought a new house with an EXTENSIVE Control4 home automation system installed. Audio, video, lights, HVAC, shades, fans, security, etc etc. I am aware that I am now a captive to a very expensive proprietary system that is price controlled via "authorized" dealers. Prices are ridiculous like $150 for a light switch which has to be installed and programmed via a "consultation appointment". Well I am a do it yourself kind of guy. My main problem at this point is that I need an account set up with Control4 in order to be able to use their cloud services which will allow me to 1. use iPads, iPhones, laptops etc to control my house both while in the house and while away from the house. This is important because trying to use the smart remotes with their tiny screen and scrolling thru 8 menus to turn on a light is just not working for me. 2. with an account, I can purchase the programming software tool and at least in theory do my own programming and not have to call a consultant to install a new light switch or new A/V receiver, etc.

So, is anyone here an authorized Control4 agent that could set me up an account with Control4. I called the closest agent and they wanted to come out and do an "onsite consultation" in order to set up the account. Oh and by the way it would be three weeks for the soonest appointment. There are other dealers here in the DFW area but I thought i would reach out and see what the forum hive has to say first. Thanks in advance
