I use both. We've had a Weber kettle grill for decades. I prefer steaks & burgers on it, unless I'm in a hurry. I bought a Weber Genesis gas grill about five years ago for Winter grilling & whenever I don't want to wait for the charcoal to get hot. Plus I've had a 24" Weber charcoal smoker for about fifteen years that gets used frequently. ------------------------------------------------ "It's hard to imagine a more stupid or dangerous way of making decisions, than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong." Charcoal. I had a nice big gas grill and just before a cookout I discovered the gas line had a leak. I ran and bought a cheap kettle grill and some cheap kingsford charcoal and could t believe how much better it tasted. So I gave the gas grill to a friend, upgraded to a nicer Weber and based on recommendations here I ditched the cheap charcoal and started buying good stuff. We have both, I like doing burgers on our Weber Kettle and using gas for most others. "Nature scares me" a quote by my friend Bob after a rough day at sea.

I eat to live; not live to eat. I grill probably 3 times a week year-round. I'm not going to fuss with charcoal that often, especially in the winter. Our Weber Q100 is big enough for the two of us and another couple if necessary. A $9.00 20# bottle lasts at least 4 months. Harshest Dream, Reality

Propane and Traeger Smoker. Prefer the smoker taste etc, but it won't sear and the Propane can cook to quickly if you don't stay on top of it and keep the temps low... Sometimes the LP is the way to go for time reasons.

I was always a Weber kettle guy with lump charcoal. Everyone was always complaining it took too long for me to cook. I didn’t measure cooking in time, but in beers. Sometimes it took awhile. Then someone gave me an old beater gas grill. I started liking the convenience and they liked the time spent before dinner. So, I eventually bought a Weber Genesis 310. The cast iron grates rusted and started coming apart in layers, just like Damascus steel looks like. Bought Grill Grates, and love them. Took a while to get to know how to cook on them. They are a hotter surface. My son bought a house and took my kettle grill and my big Masterbuilt smoker that my boys bought me. It was too heavy to lift, and took 2 people. I’ve found out I’m a fair weather griller.

Started with a Weber Kettle, then to gas, then to BGE, then to pellet.....now considering Weber Kettle. I use both - depends on what I'm cooking and how much room I need. I prefer lump charcoal (if I have the time), but if I'm grilling hot dogs or brats I just use the gas grill. In the summer the gas grill is used for veg sides (potatoes, mushrooms, peppers, onions etc in tinfoil). I reject your reality and substitute my own. --Adam Savage, MythBusters

Both. I usually use gas during the week or quick meals, but anything exciting or special occasions go on the Weber kettle. I also have a smoker, but usually smoke most things on the Weber if it fits...love cooking on charcoal. There are 3 kinds of people, those that understand numbers and those that don't.

I have a Big Green Egg, a Kamado Joe, and a really nice Weber gas grill that my neighbor gave me when he moved. I liked using the gas grill to quickly cool a burger or sausage. One day, I discovered that a full bottle of gas leaked out. I haven’t refilled it since then and only use the BGE. Food tastes better when cooked on the BGE.

Both, sort of. I've always used charcoal at home because I prefer the flavor. I've even done some minor smoking on my Weber kettle. I tend to use gas when I'm out camping though, it's just easier to deal with.

Just replaced my Weber Genesis grill of many years with a new 4 burner stainless Weber gas. I use a box for wood chips and put Luhr Jensen hickory in it, gives a great flavor. The rotisserie is nice, ribs and chicken come out real tasty.

Gas. I'm to lazy for charcoal. Plus my gas grill is piped into the house gas. So no propane. Always ready to go with flick of the wrist. Train how you intend to Fight Remember - Training is not sparring. Sparring is not fighting. Fighting is not combat.

I guess a lot of us like different cooking methods. I just pushed my Weber to the curb, after what turns out to be 17 years I guess I'll let it go. I'll replace it with another, maybe a Napolean Phantom. The gasser isn't as good but there are times it's convenient and the wife wants one so she can grill if she wants to.
