Looking at options for making a field shower - limited, personal use for camping / music festival attendance. Possibly 100 gallons (100 minutes) over 3-4 days. 1.0 g.p.m. is preferred, as well as a pump that purrs quietly. I’ve emailed Delavan for noise specs. What about the battery and possible solar charging? Is converting a sprayer rig a better idea? Is the linked battery sufficient?

Would a small motorcycle battery with solar charging work? If a car battery is 500 amps, does that mean this 3.4 amp pump would run for a couple of hundred hours on one charge?
500 is probably the battery’s CCA rating which is a rating for starting power. You want to look at the battery’s amp/hour rating. A deep cycle group 27 battery weighing around 60 pounds will run that pump for up to 25 hours. If you want the battery to last, it’ll run that pump for 12.5 hours before you need to charge the battery.

Diaphragm pumps are inherently noisier, mounting them on the tank will be much handier but create more noise. I’ve got much the same pump on my atv sprayer, it’s not really that noisy but I’m not out enjoying a campsite either.
Put the pump in a box with sound deadener mount the pump solidly to base and weight it down at camp with a big rock. If you find a gear pump or vane type they are quieter as a rule but more costly.

100 gallons for three or four days Unless you have a family of 10 you do not need anywhere near that much much water for a camp shower situation.
I have this in the eight gallon unit. It is a made in the USA is powered from 12vdc, I can get three or four good showers from 8 gallons. This is a really good quality unit. I have been more than pleased with it.
Eight gallons? No, I'm even cutting back at one gpm. Working a festival - one of the silent types hovering backstage - I'll likely want 3 showers a day. 24-30 hours with no shower, it is doable. But around the fair sex and stars of the music circuit, I'd rather cut a suave step through the humidity. Nice long immersions in flowing water. Morning, noon, and night. Get all that grease, sunscreen, and sweat off my head, neck, arms, hands. I hate sunscreen but have to wear it. It ain't too bad as long as it is slathered on clean skin.
Then, once work goes around "Woodman has a shower", forget about it. That 25 gallons would last just me a few days if I severely ration, but at one gallon per minute, with Leslie & Jane asking very nicely to split 20 minutes after two days of camping, I'll have to move the truck a mile to a tap and fill up once a day.

If the battery is 20Ah, will a 3.8Ah pump run two hours - 120 gallons / 120 minutes - before charging the battery? trapper189 mentioned using the battery to ½ capacity only if I want it to last.
Then a trickle-charger to maintain the battery? Plus some tubing, pipe, and 1.0 G.P.M. shower head? Seems you get far more for the money with built. Plus the knowledge to maintain, service, and repair the system.
This year I'll bring a series of 2-gallon containers (Tidy Cat litter jugs, clean and de-labeled); not going to rush the shower project; I'll want rails to slide out from my truck cap to support side walls and rear; but if I'm touring in retirement, a decent shower and chemical toilet would make all of the difference between an open schedule and being tied to motel rooms or campground bathrooms.
