Another article I read regarding Saint Roger Benitez’ decision is that he did not stay the ruling, unlike his other rulings, so his order is in effect until Bonta gets a stay from the 9th Circuit.

In the meantime, I stopped by Ammo Depot yesterday in Folsom, and asked if they were selling ammo without requiring registration with the state. You betcha. So I bought a case of CCI Blazer 9 mm that I don’t really need, just to celebrate.

quote:
A Southern California federal judge with a history of pro-gun rulings issued another such decision this week, preventing the state’s ammunition background check from being enforced.

Judge Roger Benitez of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California ruled on a California law that went into effect in 2019 requiring a background check on every purchase of ammunition.

In his ruling, Benitez wrote that while a person may choose to submit to a credit check in order to buy an automobile, “he is not required to pass the same credit check every time he needs to refill his car with gas or recharge his battery at a charging station.”

And, Benitez said, “the Constitution does not mention a right to own automobiles (or carriages or horses).”

SNIP

In a statement on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, California Attorney General Rob Bonta said his office would seek an immediate stay on Benitez’s ruling

Yeah, that’s pretty much how I felt.
My wife’s only reaction was “Do you want me to 86 the receipt?” She’s even more paranoid than I am. Her Dad was a John Bircher.

Feeling good about CA and 2A these days: I can—and did—buy a SIG 320 and a 365, both on the verschlugene Roster; now “free” ammo.
Fucking Bonta and Newsom dragging their heels as long as they can. They know they will lose in the end, but love putting the screws to law-abiding citizens.

Can we buy online and have ammo shipped directly to us?

I’m glad the brick and mortar store in Folsom sold directly. I’ve read a few updates on Calguns.net and was excited to see this. St Benitez strikes again.

All the online shops are running sales for us...you just have to sort through prices and compare shipping.

I tried to restrained myself, so I only ordered 7k last weekend....supposed to be here Friday

It's been so long since I bought ammo that the current prices were a bit of a shock

I didn't pay attention to price too much - as long as it's ballpark to what I'm used to (as of 4 years ago), good enough. Much of what I wanted to buy seems out of stock. But I got some stuff ordered.

Thanks to the OP for highlighting this.

I’m interested to see what the ninth circus does with the appeal and request for a stay. It was encouraging when the ninth lifted their stay of the preliminary injunction in the SB-2 “sensitive places” nonsense. Maybe a ray of sunshine?

You can imagine how much Newsom and Bonta hate Judge Benitez!

As much as we all love and admire him!
St. Roger Benitez, intercede for us....

A couple of years ago a window opened (briefly) allowing CA residents to legally buy (and possess) full capacity mags. I hope that happens again. I should’ve bought more.

SuperVel is shipping direct to CA customers as well. I’ve had good luck with their 124gr Certified Select and new. Also their .40 and .45 Certified Select.

So it was Freedom Weekend.

I'm actually surprised it took the 9th this long. At least some ammo got through.
