Pipe SmokerThe unique aspect of pretzels
I hadn’t been much of a pretzel fan until I learned of Dot’s Pretzels in this thread several months ago:
Dots Pretzels
https://sigforum.com/eve/forums...660027374#6660027374I liked Dot’s Pretzels, a lot!
And more recently, I learned of Keebler FlipSides (cracker on one side, pretzel on the other) in this thread:
Best Cracker – Triscuit.
https://sigforum.com/eve/forums...760078054#6760078054I liked FlipSides a lot, too!
So, to some degree, I am a pretzel fan now. And I began to wonder; what makes a pretzel a pretzel? This is the best explanation that I could find:
“Pretzel, a brittle, glazed-and-salted cracker of German or Alsatian origin. Made from a rope of dough typically fashioned into the shape of a loose knot, the pretzel is briefly boiled and then glazed with egg, salted, and baked.”
www.britannica.com/topic/pretzelNeither of the products that I mentioned above are in the form of a knot, so I guess that it’s the boiling or egg glaze that does it for me.

Flash-LBI'm with you. In general I can't stand pretzels and avoid them.
But Dot's and the recipe I posted in the other thread for modifying pretzels are a whole different thing.
I'll have to look at FlipSides.

Fond memories of NYC include street food. Among other things, I miss the cart vendors with the warm pretzels.
There was one right outside the building where I worked. A chunk of cheese from the nearby deli and a pretzel made a good lunch. On nice days, used to eat it while watching the chess and backgammon hustlers in the small park across the street from the office.

Don't forget the mustard!
Side note: don't get a soft pretzel in Boston. They put sesame seeds on them (blechhhhh). Or, at least, they did in the late '80s when I was there.

braillediverI never purposely ate pretzels except for the warm pretzels in Philly when we went in for concerts with mustard. And thanks to the Forums Dots are a regular in my shopping cart.

ZecpullI Love pretzels.. My favorite are Unique Splits.
But I used to buy Snyder but they kept running the commercials with the guy chewing pretzels over the conference call.. It made me hate them
