He was the drummer for Bob Dylan when Dylan went electric. Yeah, the Band was the backing band for Dylan, but Levon Helm didn't accompany them on that tour. Helm had quit the Band, so Jones filled in for the tour of Europe and Australia.
Jones was the drummer at the Manchester Free Trade Hall concert where the audience member yells out "Judas" to Bob Dylan.
He had 17 gold records from his drumming for Trini Lopez, Johnny Rivers, Kenny Rogers and the First Edition
He also made his own solo records.
