Have a 1994 F150 2WD Auto 300 CI six cylinder in the family. It is a wonderful vehicle. Buy a low mileage one to your specs if you can.

Change the radio
Update the seat foam
Line-X the bed
Replace both fuel tanks + pumps
Recharge the R12 AC system
etc.

Great truck.

I had a couple of 90s model 300 c.i. F-150s with manual transmissions. They lacked a “granny low” first gear that sure would have been a good thing for starting a heavy loaded trailer. And I recollect that the transmissions were said to be the same units installed in the Ranger and Mazda pickups, and weren’t particularly well suited for heavy use in a full size truck.

My dad had a F150 with a straight six engine, he actually had a spare on the rack in the garage, my bro had the same truck and mom had a bronco. All had the same engine. He would rebuild one, swap, rebuild the next one. Rinse repeat.

Those early 90s F150s are one of my favorite body style trucks.

Don't know how much of a truck you're looking for, but a mid 80's to mid 90's Nissan hardbody can be had with everything you're asking for. They're simple, small trucks with absolutely no frills, but you just can't kill them.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

yes, this is what I was thinking about. I would like some first hand knowledge on a rig like this.

I had a 1995 F150 w/ extra cab 4WD, inline six cylinder 300ci, 5 speed. I really enjoyed that truck, but it's long gone now.

1996 was the last year of the 300 inline six in the F-150. The manual transmission was a 5 speed made by Mazda with a relatively small clutch. Relatively craptacular tow and cargo ratings, mileage isn't great, and it's slow, but you can't kill it.
