Top five hitting, top six pitching in the league last year, we finally have a bullpen after adding Madson and Doolittle plus some others. I'm going to jinx myself and call a 100+ win season. This time we will actually do something and play well into October.

It's our turn.

Ah, That time of year...

Should be a good one.

Let's start in the NL.

East:

Nats first place, Mets and Braves behind. Phillies and Marlins in rebuild and tanked at the bottom.

Central:

Cubs first place (god this pains me to type) Brewers and Cards fighting for second place. Reds fourth and Pirates in full on rebuild mode.

West:

Dodgers again on top. D'backs and Rockies fighting for second. Padres, then Giants bringing up the rear.

AL commie league where pitchers don't bat (might as well be T-ball)

East: Yanks and Sox fighting for first, with the Yanks on top. O's third, Rays last.

Central: God, I don't even know.

West: Astros on top, fight between Angels, Seattle for second. A's last.

Not as confident in my AL predictions.

I am really ready this year. The Reds are my team but I also like the Mets (ex Reds Frazier and Bruce) and the Astros. Really I don't hate any team and can find something to like about most.

It has really transitioned to a young's mans game with player control (over the contract) as the key element.

Team's that have young talent under contract are the one's with the brightest future. Like the Astro's. There are others. Like the White sox, A's, Rangers, Reds, Phillies, etc.

The Mariners are old and have no talent in their farm system. It is a horrible place to be. Our ownership and leadership is to blame. It is no wonder we are the laughing stock of the entire league virtually.

For the first time in a long time, I'm dreading how things are already going with the Giants..and the season hasn't even started. Top two starting pitchers are already injured. Closer looks to be injured, possibly severely and the outfield has two guys who shouldn't even have major league jobs. Oh well, Spring, Summer, Fall...bring it on.

Orioles start today at 3:05 vs Twins with Bundy on the mound.

Lets see how they do.

We skipped opening day due to finances and I have to get my transmission fixed, and I cannot get MASN here in Durham.

I did like the fact they picked up Alex Cobb. He was one of my favorites with the Rays, even though the Orioles hammered him a lot of the time.

I believe Machado will be gone after this year and I hope he does well at short stop.

All the polls and statistics they have out now, says the Orioles will be basement dwellers I hope we prove them wrong.

Really ready for it! For the first time ever I’ll be going to the Rockies home opening game on April 6. It’s the 25th Anniversary for the team, Braves will be here. My younger son’s birthday is in April and we’ve gone to a game every year together for it. Dropped some serious coin but we have excellent seats, definitely worth it.

In 2007 we were there for Troy Tulowitski’s unassisted triple play-also against the Braves.

Play Ball!

I haven't watched baseball for years as I have been a football fan. But now that I don't watch football I think I may tune in to baseball this season. Ironically it was the big MLB player strike that turnwd me off all those years ago. Doesn't seem like such a big deal now.

We all know that the Braves will have a perfect season and win it all, and not go sub 500, because I'm a dreamer.

Happy spring to all, baseball is back!

Go Astros, even though I am not entirely over them switching to the AL. I also believe that the designated hitter is a communist plot, second only in nefariousness to the fluoridation of drinking water.

I didn’t watch much major league baseball in San Diego, even on the rare occasions when I went to a Padre game. I do have very happy memories of going to a Padre game in 1969, against the Giants, and seeing Willie Mays hit a home run, and the All Star game in 1978.

Since moving back here, though, I have started watching quite a few games. The Rangers are carried on the local cable outlet, and now I know the players. Being a native Houstonian, I would be happier if it carried the Astros. This afternoon, I get to see both!

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

The Astros should be on top of the division, and, alas, the Rangers could be at the bottom this year.

We'll see, Kevin. Always hopeful at this time of year but the Cubs are going to be tough. Go Cards!

Cards v. Mets @ noon today!

I just bought the audio feed from MLB.com. $19.99 for full season with no blackouts and includes postseason. I like baseball best on the radio and this package gives a choice between the home and away feed. Smile

That's what I love about being a MLB.TV subriber. No matter where the Indians play, I can choose the hometown Indians broadcast feed.
