DaBigBRI had the "stuck on base under orders all lines of communication closed" scam sent to me when I was selling a car a couple years back. The idiot sent a GROUP TEXT to several people with the same BS. I was shocked by how many sellers, despite the obviousness of it, tried to engage the scammer to sell their stuff.

He (seller) could send anything through the mail that weighs the same amount or just a broken one sold as-is. Then disappear with the $$.
In person sale only on an item like this unless from a legitimate business.

220-9erI suspect you would have been sent a link that looks like an eBay listing or PayPal that really was a scam/fake site. You would then log in to buy and pay, exposing your log in info to the scammer.
Not only could he steal some of your money, he may be able to use your info to set up another fake eBay site.

The target of the scam isn’t the buyer, it’s the CC company. That’s who will be out the $$ in the end.
