Good Non-OEM Brother Laser Printer Toner Cartridge Brand? Login/Join

Was wondering if anyone could steer me in the right direction here?

We have a small Brother color laser printer and it works pretty well but the original toner ran out and I found some replacements on Amazon for around 60 bucks and they suck. I guess you really do get what you pay for.

I need a full replacement colors and black toner cartridge set and Brother wants $259 for the OEM, yikes.

Was just wondering if anyone else had any experience with non-OEM Brother cartridges and could recommend a brand to look at before I shell out $259 here? My kids do tend to print a lot of stuff for homeschooling so I do need to replace these pretty soon.

Thanks!

This will not solve your issues with color cartridge expense but when I was confronted with the same pricing, I gritted my teeth and paid the higher than precious metal prices and bought the Brother cartridges. At the same time I saw a black and white Brother laser printer on sale and took it home. My day to day printing of text is done on it and the toner is much less expensive. The color machine is reserved for pictures that require color. Doing it this way has really cut back on expenses.

I can’t speak about the color cartridges, but I’ve run a number of cheap, cheap toners from Amazon without issue in my mono Brother laser.

Thanks for posting, bald1. Ours takes a TN-760 and is warning us it's outta ink. I think we will try this EZ ink compatible from Amazon. The 2-pack for that one is $30.35.

Buying cheap toner is a hit & miss. I print about 7000 pages a year with my Brother printers. I have purchased cheap color toner from the same company with different results. The color is never as good & the cartridges do not last as long. Some of the cheap cartridges do not work when installed. That said, the color laser is just a backup. Most of my printing is done on a non-color Brother Multifunction & I now only buy Brother cartridges. Cheap cartridges ruined a previous Brother printer & and one cheap cartridge the toner smeared.

Unfortunately, I had the same experience with the off brand toner cartridges. Sorry, I can’t save you any money today but the official Brother replacement toner cartridges last a very long time and I used mine a lot. Last year when my Brother color laser finally died and new ones were months on backorder, I stepped up to a Konica Minolta but I need it for work and the downtime with the Brother really brought things to a stand still.
