Chevy Silverado question
My 19 Silverado with the 5.3 engine has a roaring noise at all speeds. Sounds like maybe the exhaust but not sure. Any ideas?

It could be anything, without hearing it it's nearly impossible to diagnose. Is it still under warranty? If so, take it to the dealer.

Does the noise change with speed/rpm, or is it rather constant?

Also, agreed with above, being a '19, it should still be under warranty.

Does the Silverado still have a belt/clutch radiator fan? Given your location & likely quite warm temps, could it be staying engaged?

When did it start? Did anything change or happen immediately before it started?

Have you added any exterior accessories?

Roaring noise while stopped or low speed too?

Do you happen to have heated and cooled seats? The auxiliary fan for the cooled seats in my wife's Sequoia produce a low roar that it took us a while to "diagnose".

When is the sound heard? Moving or stationary ? If when moving at speed try placing transmission in neutral to see if it is in power train possibly when under power. sound coming from a wheel bearing or possibly rear differential assy . Hope you find the source. ........................drill sgt.

My Silverado has the heavy duty towing package and the fan noise when sitting still in the summer sounds like the truck is going 80mph. Very loud.

Fan clutch would be my guess. The older ones are thermal, the newer ones are electrically actuated. Sounds like the clutch is locked up all the time. Mine sounds like an airplane taking off when fully engaged.

Bad wheel bearing is my guess.

What color is the truck?

Still under warranty. Fan, no-wheel bearing, don't think so-any speed above 30-ok when idling-A/C, no-have added running boards, mud flaps and window visors-and its the really dark brown. Am stopping by dealer today.

What was it?

To add to the above suggestions 2 of my last 3 had transmission and transaxle problems, respectively. Dealership could not diagnose the problems.

If you don't like it, don't trust it, don't keep it.

9mmnut. Your cooling fans are electric not clutch/fan with belts.

Its possible your electric cooling fans don't shut off but I don't think thats it. I have '17 same motor and the cooling fans even when on during heat with ac are barely noticable.

Take it to dealer.
