SigmanicPepsi taps 'Keeping up with the Kardashians' star (Kendall Jenner) for its latest ad campaign
Looking around it appears that this commercial is getting ripped in all corners. Some (BLM) are saying that Kendall is trying to appropriate a movement. I can't imagine that Kendall ever saw this coming and I bet her head is spinning. Welcome to politics young lady! Of course it's not really her fault and she's just the chosen pitch person/pretty face, du jour. Pepsi is now trying to defend this mess and is apparently considering pulling the ad. I hope so.
This from ABC:

SigmanicWell, Pepsi pulled the ad. They even apologized to Kendall. Think I'll go have a Coke.

bendablesocial media must be running the country now,
I have watched the commercial 7 times, and I have not seen anything remotely close to anything re: black lives Asian lives, ethnic anything.

I was drinking a liter a day easily. Now I only drink black coffee, no sugar iced tea, water or milk. Ocasional beer. But no soft drinks in 6+ months now. My doc was so impressed by my retested blood results she said don't punish myself and have a coke once in a while. Nope. Can't relapse. Sorry Kendall
Yep same here, but I no longer want the Diet Cokes. Go pop one open, take a swig, I did it to satisfy an urge and it was like drinking a glass of sugar water, so sweet it was unreal and confirmed my desire to stop drinking sugar sodas...

The word "Coke" is trademarked - they have to distinguish from it. If they serve without confirming, they can get into trouble.
That said, I have a family member who specifically asks what brand they have - if it is Coca-Cola, she will have something other than a cola-style product.

Pepsi just released one of the most tone-deaf, vapid, reaching commercials I’ve seen in my lifetime. Not just because it’s pathetic, pandering, and preposterous, but because it misses the mark in so many ways I lost count.
In the pantheon of offensive media, this is the holy grail. The Magnum opus. A love letter to disconnectedness. This is the Philosopher's Stone of crap media. They turned gold back into lead. As a millennial, I found myself frustrated. As an African American, I found myself watching mouth agape as Pepsi reduced very real challenges that we experience as a community to "a couple of guys in need of a Pepsi." When it ended, my business partner and I just sat in silence for about 30 seconds trying to piece together what we saw. Then we watched it again to make sure we were not overreacting.
This douchebag goes on to "analyze" every shot of the commercial. His outrage is hilarious because he's so misguided.

Nope. She signed the contract and knew what the commercial was. Bless her heart, is she so empty headed that she and her handles didn't see a problem?

It's a running joke with my wife that the ACTUAL name of Pepsi is "Pepsi OK". You go out and the waitstaff asks you what you'd like to drink: "I'll have a Coke"
"Pepsi OK?"

Yup, that's precisely the case. I think they mainly saw glory as viewed through their liberal prism. It was their golden opportunity to ride the protest wave and help unite millennials of races, religions and ethnicities. It was likely supposed to be a launch pad for Kendall's modeling career.
The fail is everywhere on this one, but it's Pepsi's advertising/marketing brainchild. It's their company that looks ridiculous. It's mainly on them.
