I need a good quality Globe not gate valve. Recommendations. $25ish budget. Thoughts?

Ford makes quality valves.

Scrape up another $100, or try and find a used one. Are you sure your application requires a globe?

Do you need to throttle flow with it?

I had to draw a globe valve in mechanical drawing class in high school. I'll never forget it. Didn't enjoy it.

That is a plus. The water supply has some sand in it. The current gate valve will not completely shut off.
replacing it with another will eventually result in the same.

Maybe Hammond makes one. Thanks guys.

^^^ Given that, I think I'd spend a little extra and get a stainless ball valve.

Off topic, I enjoyed mechanical drawing in school. Call me crazy. Big Grin

Grainger and McMaster carry Apollo valves

Changing to a globe valve will not help in the long run with your sediment issue, and will introduce added pressure drop. A ball valve would be the correct answer, along with a sediment filter.

Not getting sediment into the house. Not seeing anything in the water. Pressure is fine. Over time gate valves are notorious for leaking through. This one is. I am fine with a ball valve. but if there is some sand, even minute amounts is a ball valve going to handle it well? I don't know. A globe by design is really good. I do know that.
