I recently picked up a Citizen eco drive. I’ve heard these watches don’t do so well if you stow them away in a dark place for a long time. Where do you store yours? I have a cat who loves to knock anything and everything off of counters.

It’s taken me a little time to adjust to the weight of my stainless eco drive compared to my g-shock but so far I like the new watch.

What is your favorite eco drive watch? (Feel free to post up a pic of it)

I wear one. I'm not a "fan," but it's what I wear. This is my second; the first got stolen by the maid at a hotel in. Silver City, NM, this spring. It had been going for a few years, no troubles.

The ecodrives are solar powered, and can be powered by the sun or by lights in the room; they power down on their own to save energy, and will be activated by movement, or by light. Turning on the light in the room or bedside light is often enough to power them back up. They're supposed to last about seven months without being charged. I wear mine every day, and never worry about it. The battery should last about ten years or so.

I travel a lot between time zones, so the international time features get used a lot, and I rely on the atomic time clock feature for accuracy. When traveling, I often use the compass feature to get a general sense of north, because I tend to get turned around in unfamilar places, sometimes. The watch has a bunch of other features that I don't use. It's a bit thicker than I like, but overall I'm happy with it.

I didn't buy it because it's a solar powered watch, but it's a nice, extra feature.

I am a fan. I have had three, still have 2 of them. They work. I have never had a problem with any of mine, and time is accurate. No battery changes.

I have a few normal battery watches, and a few automatics. The EcoDrive watches require the least attention and maintenance, just can't store in a dark place.

If you plan to wear it all the time they’re great. I switch watches often and the Eco drive is never ready when you want it to be. You have to remember to put it under some light the day before.

Then after a while mine would no longer hold a charge because my battery discharged all the way down so frequently. I’m not really a fan unless it’s going to be you’re consistent daily.

I have had several Citizen watches over the years but after the Eco Drive my wife bought me one year I will never own another.

Long story short, watch would not charge/hold charge after about 6 months so i sent back to Citizen and they repaired under warranty. Fast forward to approx. one month after warrant expired ad same issue...sent back again and they wanted some crazy amount of money to repair. I tried contacting customer service manager to see if they could offer any help as this was the second time I had the issue but was told they would not help me. I told them to keep the match

I had one for about eight years...mine just died this month. Well beyond the warranty.

I would get another one

Kevmo,

How much did they want to change out the battery?

Can other places besides Citizen perform that service at a better price?

I’m on my second one. I have the Divers 200M version in black. The first one was in blue. I handed it to my wife on the way into surgery a couple years ago and she lost it. DecidedI liked black better and contacted Dave Troung to get it.
The purchase experience with Dave was flawless. He did a karma and gave one away at the same time I was getting mine. If I take the time to figure out the picture posting thing I’ll post some.
The watch is my daily wear watch. I have 2 GMT Masters but don’t want to beat them up or take a chance on losing them overboard.
I have no major complaints about the Eco Drive. Keeps good time. If I lose it or it quits I’ll get another. From Dave Troung of course!!

I have four eco drive watches, all are very accurate timekeepers and reliable. I won one of Dave Truongs monthly Karma's, that was my first eco drive, thanks Dave. I keep all of my watches in a glass topped Jewelry box designed for watches, keeps those eco drives well charged and ready to go.

I just bought my third. I like them a lot.

Nice looking, well made from my experience, relatively inexpensive.

I have a very dressy titanium model, a workaday model with a nylon band and a slightly more dressy white face / leather band model.

I love them. Own two so far. My daily is a Skyhawk A-T Blue Angels Titanium. It's awesome for business travelers due to the radio syncing and ability to display two time zones at the same time.

The wife and I have several, I have one she picked out ready for Christmas. We keep them out on top of our dresser or jewelry armoire. Cats are not allowed on top of anything. A bottle of Jerk Spray ( water ) keeps them in line

I have 2, the Attesa line. One is more for office attire, the other for after work/weekends. Kept in a window when not on the wrist. I think I've have them about 10 years, never a problem. Once I retire the 'office' one will be relegated to Sundays. While in Afghanistan for 4 months it lost 3 minutes due to no timing signal. YMMV

I’ve got several Citizen Eco-Drives as well as a Casio Solar and like them a lot. I wear the Promaster Titanium (that Dave Truong so highly recommended) more than the others. I’ve had no issue with any of them over the 4-5 years I’ve had them. I keep them in an open top golf ball box (LOL) on a credenza by a window in my office and they’ve never ran out of juice. I like what ‘Warhorse’ does, using the glass top jewelry/watch box, I’ll be checking those out.

My EDC watch is a Citizen, gift from my wife/kids via Dave.
Satellite-set, only have to adjust for DST.
I keep mine in my top dresser drawer & have never had any issue with it. Did wear it for a few days, and this morning the hands were all at 12:00 (sleep mode I guess). It jumped to the correct time once it got some light on it.

My 'dressy' watch is a Movado Fiero.
