I could've felt sorry for myself, I did feel sorry for myself for a couple of days. It sucked with having all the rejection this year.

But sitting on my ass wasn't going to make things better. This is what I've done since last Friday:

V-Tail invited me out to the range with him, it was a great trip. Finally got to try out a Bruce Gray tuned pistol, tried two of them. All I can say is "wow!" V-Tail also found the time to do a little mentoring to me. It was really great to hear what he said and I am practicing what he said.

Did a lot of bike (bicycle) riding. Got in about 50 miles over the course of 4 days.

Revised my resume. Big thanks to Jeff and Sandy. They e-mailed me and offered help. Got me back track in focusing on revising my resume. It was probably more of a revolution than evolution when it came to doing my resume.

Applied to a couple of places to tutor English to Chinese students online. Got turned down by one place, have an online interview with the other place tonight. It's not fancy, but it's work from home so no commuting time or costs.

Applied to a couple of local businesses with my new resume. Also updated my information in the Florida job bank search and made my resume public. I will be applying at more places.

It was really a great opportunity to get focused on future goals, something I just didn't have the time to do while I was working 40+ hours a week. Stuff is getting done around the house that I had to put off for weeks because I would have reserve drill one weekend a month and likely worked Saturdays when I didn't have reserve duty. I was out of the house from 6am-6pm and that didn't leave much time for a wife, 2 year old, 2 dogs and other household things that needed to be done.

I guess I just needed to mentally reset before trying to jump back in.

And to top it off for the week, I received a letter of acceptance from American University for their MBA program. Classes start in 1 month. I finished undergraduate 11 years ago and I'm 37 so the academic brain cells are a little rusty. It's an online program but I'll have to visit DC a couple times for immersions. Average time to finish the program is approximately 2 years.

Who is paying for the MBA? My Post 9/11 GI Bill is. This is on top of the government having paid off the principal from my undergraduate loan. Not only is school paid for, I get a stipend to go to school.

Yep, things are looking up.

What is inspiring to hear is someone like V-Tail taking time out to help you. Along with the others. That is very, very GREAT!

When life hands you a shit sandwich you can take it and eat it, or just throw it back.

It not always easy to make those choices. Often they are hard to see or understand in the moment.

Great job at recognizing this and turning the negative to a positive.

I forgot I had an account with them. Ended up logging back into it and updating it. Applied at one job last night and will apply at another one today. Just have to do a cover letter in order to apply at the second one.

ZIP Recruiter markets quite aggressively around here. Haven't used them myself, but they're getting very big.

I haven't had to job hunt in 12 years, but a couple things that I did do that I believe helped was the mindset of 'my job is to get a job' & apply for (at least) 1 job/day, no matter what.

My wife wouldn't do that & it took forever (immigrant, shy & stubborn all worked against her). She wouldn't talk with recruiters, only wanted to apply for the 'perfect' position, etc.
