Well, it all depends on what your definition of "is", is.

The great majority of liberals I have talked with will not, or cannot, listen to facts which do not support what they wish to believe. For them, somehow there is greater psychological benefit to stick to their Utopian world than to embrace any fact or facts to the contrary.

Thus the quote if you want to make a conservative mad, lie to him, and if you want to make a liberal mad tell them the truth.

Liberals exist in a pseudo idealized reality. They simply identify with what ever they believe is real, regardless of the facts.

They identify that ACA is the best thing ever, regardless of clear evidence that it is failing, so therefore it is in fact the best thing ever

They identify with free speech, but violently attack anyone with an opposing view, therefore free speech is good

They are a man or a woman biologically, but identify as the other so naturally everyone must believe that in reality, they are as they identify

You cannot get farther from reality than this mentality. Unless you are living in an altered mental state brought on by drugs or mental illness

As we know, the Mental Disorder known as Progressivism is running rampant like an uncontrolled outbreak in Europe, as evidenced by a town in Italy where some want unvetted migrants to escort their young children to school.

Insanity.

What could possibly go wrong?!

How do we teach the teachers? They've been indoctrinated for so many decades now that I see no possibility of accomplishing that, so what do we do instead?

I'm asking this in all seriousness, and would appreciate the Forum's teachers' and former teachers' opinions.

It can't be done. John Dewey and the socialists have completely conquered education. It was inevitable, really. The very notion of "public education" is a socialist concept.

The purpose of government schools is to predispose people to more government.

They are run for the benefit of the administration and the union, not the students.
From an early age, the kids are told to go home and tell mommy and daddy to vote for the next tax increase.

Government expands.
Until it collapses of its' own weight.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

There was a time when I would try and get a liberal to see the errors and misconceptions of their views using facts and reality. No more!! I just don't try anymore. I just stay away from them and write them off as lost causes hopelessly living in an alterative universe. Life is too short to waste the energy on them.

I've told this story here before. Back in '92, our 2nd grader came home from school one day, and at the dinner table said, "Mrs. Cooper (his teacher and the wife of the superintendent) says you should vote for Bill Clinton because he believes in a woman's right to choose."

A 7 year old boy being indoctrinated.

That would have resulted in my going to the school to confront that person and tell her IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that I did not appreciate that activity and would not tolerate it--her job was to teach the course materials and not indoctrinate in politics. And that news of future such actions would result in efforts on my part to get her removed.

That is precisely what I did. But, given that her husband was the superintendent of schools, guess what happened?

Similar thing happened the third day our oldest daughter came home from 1st grade in 1991.

Day four was her first day of Home Schooling.

She and the youngest were home-schooled.

Nobody puts our babies in the corner...

Both of them know their minds and stand their ground. They have a tremendous number of friends of all ages, all walks of life and all around the world and excel at all they do.

It is my firm belief that they are a product of being able to be self determined and "their own captains", as we made it clear, life was on them and their choices.

The credit is on them, not us. We just did our best not to try and force them to follow "our doctrine", but ask, challenge, seek and all learn for themselves.

We simply taught them how to learn.

The loonies run the asylum.
