I’ve been getting two or more emails every day asking me to join the NRA.

I’m a life member. What’s to join?

I finally just blocked their email address - so tired of the crap

Pet peeve topic of mine. I can't talk about this w/o getting pissed.

Suffice it to say that I will never again give them any address or contact information that I use on a regular basis. Not even email.

They are the #1 reason I will get a UPS mailbox for use as my mailing address.

They are valuable but they are like an idiot asshole friend who just won't shut up.

It seems to be a little known fact that all you have to do to get off the spamming list is to ask to be taken off.

You can do it on the phone, on an email or, I'm told, on the net somewhere. I did it long ago and I get no spam from them.

I’ve actually tried. And I’ve told them multiple times via multiple methods corrections in address and other contact information. Nothing changes.

God knows I’ve tried. That’s why this is such a pet peeve of mine.

Once whilst walking past the NRA booth at a gunshow, someone asked if I was a member. I replied yes, I was a life member. He responded that he could get me a special deal if I renewed today.

I got the NRA to stop most of the spam and junk mail, but the calls keep on coming even after requesting to be put on their do-not-call list. Most of their numbers are blocked, but often one gets through.

That's all I did and they stopped.

If you get a business reply prepaid envelope, fill it with absolutely as much shredded spam as you can and send it back. Including a note requesting that they a) Stop spamming you, and b) Fire Wayne is optional.

I'm always suspicious of any email, even if it supposedly from someone or something I know.

I'm just saying that some of those emails might be spoofed, not actually from the NRA, especially if there is a link to click on to donate money. I think there is a lot of that crap going on, and it's getting more and more common and worse and worse.

Be wary.

Click on the Unsubscribe email at the bottom of any email you get. You'll have a couple of choices. Select "Unsubscribe from All Email."

That should absolutely do it.

Replying and telling them to unsubscribe will not do it. The unsubscribe link will work.

If you continue to get more email, check to see if they have been sending you emails to multiple accounts. If so, unsubscribe there too.

Have you considered becoming an Afterlife Member?

Give the NRA time. They just haven't yet thought of it.

I think a lot of these “unsubscribe” links are bullshit and all they’re doing is confirming you have a live email address for them to hit.

I use the unsubscribe link and it works. There are multiple lists, so you cannot just do it once. Each list is a different set of members, divided by interests, life stages, whatever. Hunting. Tactical. Handgun. So, you have to unsubscribe from each list.

There’s a possibility that some companies you deal with are selling your contact info to the NRA.

I called the NRA several years ago and had them take me off their mailing list and email begging list and I haven’t gotten anything from them since then. I told them I support them through the “round up” program at Midway and Brownells, and if they want me to keep doing so, quit wasting my contributions on sending me spam and junk mail.

They've already got it in the form of their Heritage Society where you leave your estate to the NRA.
