I have seen that only special SWAT type units carry firearms why not everyone.

In Europe, neither British nor Republic of Ireland police officers are routinely armed walking the streets or driving around. Northern Irish police ARE, and have been since 1922.

Cultural practices, like religious beliefs, are usually very difficult and slow to change in societies.

If the police themselves reject the idea of being armed and express that idea to the populace at large, it’s not likely to change anytime soon. If police are only being chased by criminals, what’s the big deal is the question that will be asked. Certainly it’s better that that happens than the streets run with the blood of the police’s victims. Roll Eyes

Plus, there can be no question that the UK’s laws pertaining to private firearms ownership greatly reduce the chance that police officers will be confronted by firearms. If that were to change, attitudes would change. As I understand it, the increasing prevalence of firearms in lawless hands some years ago was the reason the UK even has limited numbers of armed officers.

Keep in mind that the idea police should not be armed is far from unknown in this country, and is becoming more common all the time. Even on the Right if one officer out of hundreds of thousands does something that is perceived as being unjustified, out come the torches and pitchforks. That’s only one of the reasons why I would actively discourage anyone I cared about from becoming any sort of LEO.

Time to get those old blackthorn shillelaghs out and show how differences are properly settled. The shillelagh is the reason why Irish heads are so damn hard.

Last post in this thread was just a couple months ago, although the thread goes back two years.

There are a couple of posts above featuring Conor McGregor and his interest in the Irish Presidency. As “long-form podcasts” go, this one is relatively short, 55 minutes. Tucker Carlson is, or was, in Dublin where he interviewed McGregor. Almost nothing about MMA, the subject is Irish politics and the state of the country.

Ireland seems to be the saddest case yet of a country overrun by Muslim thugs, with the blessing of the government.
It was totally unnecessary; and came after the horrendous examples of Sweden, France, Netherlands, and Germany.
Until recently I would have thought Ireland a wonderful place to visit--wife's family comes from there. Now, neither the UK nor Ireland seems at all inviting.

Our "betters" don't like normal white people, seems to be the bottom line. "The Great Replacement" is a very real thing. Would have happened here if Trump hadn't won. Now at least we have a chance, if the Supreme Court will just do the right thing and tell those hundreds of judges to GFY.

There are few places on the planet worth visiting today.

Canada? Why? Its just overrun by GDCs.

Europe, save Poland, has gone to the dogs.

Africa. After decolonialization, save for a few standouts like Zambia, African nations are 110% corrupt, violent shitholes.

Australia and New Zealand. Gone full bore commie.

Indian subcontinent? Not with the two nuclear powers there going at it again over terrorism.

SE Asia? Cambodia, Laos, Burma, are all overrun by the CCP.

Former Soviet Union nations? No.

Central America? Not so much.

South America. Argentina is the only place I'd visit.

Europeans are very very nice, until they're not. Hopefully the bloodshed is minimal.

I liked the interview with McGregor. He was very smart and well spoken. Wish him the best of luck getting Ireland back to being a great coountry.
