Well, at least its not Bush's fault.

What an asshole.

ObamaCare cost spike is Trump’s fault, ACA architect says

ObamaCare co-architect Jonathan Gruber -- who infamously said “the stupidity of the American voter” helped get the measure to become law -- now blames Trump for rising premium costs.

“Whose fault is this?” Gruber asked on “Fox News Sunday.” “Since President Trump has been elected … premiums are going up and insurers are exiting.”

Gruber, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology economics professor, argued that perceived rising premium costs are really a one-time increase in 2016 to cover “massively underpriced” policies for the first two years of the 2010 law.

He also said the increase “fixed” the problem because insurance companies were seeking signs of profitability and talking optimistically about continued participation in the program.

Right now, major ObamaCare insurers are pulling out of Iowa and Virginia exchanges, leaving many customers with one or no options and putting the state exchanges in jeopardy of collapse.

Gruber also argued Sunday that Trump contributed to ObamaCare’s rising prices and fewer policy options for Americans because he “undercuts open enrollment.”

Trump shortly after taking office cut advertising days before the January 2017 signup deadline.

Gruber was never part of the Obama administration but was a top adviser, purportedly paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for his input.

He is seen and heard on several videos after the law was passed talking about the political tactics used to garner public support.

In a video that surfaced in 2014, Gruber is heard saying the administration called the so-called “Cadillac tax” on top-shelf, employer-based plans a tax on insurance policies, not people, to exploit voters’ “lack of economic understanding.”

In another video, Gruber says, “The stupidity of the American voter … was really critical for the thing to pass.”

I despise Jonathan Gruber w every fiber of my being.

For his own personal gain, he has caused early death and misery for millions of Americans.

By being a lying pimp for obamacare, he:

a. increased the cost of healthcare in America,

b. triggered decreases in quality of healthcare provided,

c. Made the patient / doctor relationship less positive for both sides. Drove many good doctors to retire early or switch professions.

d. enabled expensive policies with limited doctor and hospital options,

e. caused massive amounts of tax payer dollars to be wasted. Money which could have stayed w the taxpayers or been put to profoundly better use to serve the country

Right, because most premiums doubled in 2015 and exchanges were already closing down. But I guess Trump's fault is retro-active.

Yea... that's the thing with socialists. They always have to lie to sell it.

Socialism fails.... every time it's tried.

The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Obamacare Architect Tries – And Fails – To Pin The Blame For Obamacare’s Failures On Trump

The nerve that movers and shakers on the Left have in trying to blame everything under the sun on Trump never ceases to amaze me. Even as someone who has never been totally in the tank for Trump, I can’t help but marvel at the logical twists and turns defenders of the Obama legacy make to deflect the previous administrations failures.

Case in point: Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber took to Fox News Sunday this weekend to talk about health care. When host Chris Wallace brought up the example that, in Iowa, all but five counties had only one choice in the Obamacare marketplace – and that insurer is looking at leaving – Gruber managed to twist the logic into an unrecognizable shape.

“Look, and whose fault is this?” Gruber asked. “Before President Trump was elected, there were no counties in America that did not have an insurer.”

Gruber tried to bury his outrageous claim by moving on, but Wallace wasn’t having it.

“Wait, wait, wait, wait,” Wallace interrupted. “Wait, you’re going to blame the problems with Obamacare on President Trump?”

Indeed, Gruber was. He said that Obamacare was working fine before Trump “undercut” the Obamacare enrollment and renegaded on the “obligations [Obamacare] makes to the insurers.”

“And as a result, premiums are going up and insurers are exiting,” Gruber said.

Wallace kept the segment moving, but that didn’t prevent Gruber from circling back to his assertion that the election of Trump is at fault for the failure of Obamacare. Gruber even went so far as to claim that insurers were happy with Obamacare and profitable in the exchange until the 2016 election.

Of course, Gruber’s claims are patently false. Year after year since Obamacare went into law, we’ve heard stories of insurers abandoning the marketplace and premiums skyrocketing. Last year’s spike in premiums took the trend to new highs; these increases largely come because the insurance companies are trying to make up for the profits they’re losing by attaching themselves to government healthcare.

It’s always both frustrating and entertaining to watch the Left try to deny their failure and pin the blame on anybody else. I guess we can count on some things never changing.
