That AL Qaeda would escalate the attacks on America was a predictable certainty given the fanaticism and prior attacks in NYC, Africa, the ME, and the destruction of the Bamiyan Buddha statues. The 'martyrdom operation' of 9-11 was remarkable for the strike having an ambition that was orders of magnitude beyond the prior attacks such as hijackings and hostage takings. And yet some clues were available. One psychological clue is that AQ would try finish the job that was not completed by the U-Hual truck attack. At least one AQ trainee requested to learn how to fly but not to land. 'Students' were arrested for trying to open the door to the cockpit on an NW airlines flight. Infidels are not permitted to have a building taller than the Ummah.

My parents were visiting from Halifax Nova Scotia. We were playing golf. While we were playing we noticed a lot of circular contrails of airplanes. And then it got very quiet.

We headed back to the house and saw what had happened.

My folks were stranded here for a few days when the border was closed. My brother opened up their house and his as well to some of the travelers that got stuck at Halifax International Airport.

My opinion of Islam and Muslims in general has not changed one bit since that day.

I observed 9-11 yesterday by listening to the Howard Stern broadcast from that day. I have long since broken up with Stern, but I listened to him on that day, so it's part of my tradition.
Then I watched the movie World Trade Center and followed up with Zero Dark Thirty. I stayed up quite late as I was monitoring the incoming hurricane.
If 9-11 falls on a weekend, I try to take the kids to a fire station and have them ring the bell and toss a few dollars into a boot.

Right on, nhtagmember! It has been 23 years and I feel not one bit different toward Islam and Muslims. Forgive, forget I don't think it is going to happen.

I was happy to have my daughter come home and ask me about my experience during 9/11. She's in a charter school and its really good to see.

I fucking hate 9-11 with a passion. I worked in midtown, but used a sick day so I got to watch it unfold live on TV. My best friend called me from Scotland because his aircraft got grounded in the ensuing chaos. I spent the next month working my day job, then working a shift at ground zero doing environmental work. I fucking hate 9-11.
