In the interest of full disclosure (I'd thought I'd included that in my prior post, but forgot): My Echo back pack leaf blower is currently in for service. Last season it took to wanting to die at full throttle upon its last use. Kept meaning to take it in. Kept forgetting. This year it got steadily worse upon its first use--to the point it didn't want to keep running at even half throttle.

The good news is it has a five year warranty and I should have it back in time to finish the job when the leaves are done falling.

I have an Echo PB261L backpack blower I purchased over 20 years ago. The only parts I replaced were a spark plug maybe 10 years ago, and fuel line/filter. That's it. I still use it once a week during the spring/summer/fall. It starts up on the first 1-3 pulls, depending on temps. Before the Echo, I had a handheld blower and it became troublesome for my lower back. I don't see getting another blower, the Echo will probably outlast me.

No help on anything really, just my experience. I have a Stihl BR700 that is a few years old. It is a beast. Absolutely a blowing machine. Typical Stihl reliability as well.

I have an Echo PB620 that is about 13 years old. It has moved mountains of leaves and pine needles over the years. This season it was finally time to do a tune up as it had issues at full throttle after a few minutes. I replaced the air filter and spark plug but no improvement. I changed the fuel filter and it runs like new again. First maintenance done besides cleaning the air filter. I had an Echo hand held before this and it too ran like a champ for well over a decade.

FWIW by yard equipment standards, a leaf blower leads the easiest life. They just move air and a good one should have a long life with regular maintenance. A nice backpack blower is a fun and effective tool, get one!

You could go electric, advantages are less weight so it's easier on your back, and way quieter, so it's better for your ears.

A plus, no gas and oil to mix, just slap on the battery and go... 600 CFM and $419 at Ace.

I have a handheld EGO, none of the neighbors gas blowers can keep up, even my lawn guy says it's better than his backpack and is looking to convert his equipment. Electric or Gas is just the method to convert energy into blower speed, both products can do it.

I have the EGO+ Backpack Blower. It is great, no fussing with gas/oil, and should last forever. The downfall is that you can't run it long enough. With gas fill it back up and get back at it. I have the blower, trimmer (weedwacker), small chainsaw and shrub trimmer. Two 2.5 batteries, a 5.0 battery and 7.5 battery. That blower eats through batteries. The 7.5 or 5.0 honestly is fine for my normal weekly routine (after I trim and cut the grsss) but when it is leaf season, I utilize it but 7.5 maybe lasts 30 minutes. 5 - 20 minutes. And to get the leaves moving alot of time you need to boost (button) which eats up the battery life. I like it but wish for longer battery life.

Also forgot to mention - the lighter weight compared to gas and instant on/off is awesome.
