Which one do I want? I've seen the "It's on sale" posts over the years but I didn't need one then.
Now I need one (somewhere between now and 12-15 weeks). {hurricane Micheal and contractors}

So do I want 1/2, 3/4 or 1 hp?

Thanks in advance.

Rick

3/4. 1 hp is overkill and louder.

Therefore, get the 1.5 HP. It can grind up full size yaks, while the .75 HP is good only for baby yaks.

I'm a medium yak kinda guy. Will a 1hp work for me or not? Also do I risk ridicule from my guy friends for not having the full 1.5hp? I don't want to be the dude with the four banger mustang, it's just embarrassing.

They are made like a brick house. When we carried them some had in home service...think of that in home service on a disposer.

In Anchorage, I installed a 1 hp Waste Kang and it was quieter than the 1/3 hp Badger it replaced.

One thing I’ve noticed over the years is the 3-bolt mount (eg 9980) gets better reviews than the EZ-mount (eg 8000). I had the 9980 and it was simple to install and performed flawlessly.

Thanks for the info and the laughs. Looks like a 1hp is in my future.

On a side note....Hurricanes and insurance companies suck and can kiss my ass.

10 months in - I could use a good nights sleep.

What are you guys talking about? I have a 1/2 horse, it's a lot quieter and will chew up an anvil.

Yes, mine originally came with EZ mount and it's horrible. It's constantly backing off. It's so bad that I'm surprised they still offer it. I had to buy the 3 bolt kit to convert it.

1 hp will grind up three of anything you want to grind up. It could grind up a whole turkey if you could get it down the drain.

1/2 hp is probably enough for most people, in actuality.

But I'd still get 3/4 or 1 hp. They aren't that much more expensive, are they?

Have you looked at the price of an anvil recently? Sell it, don't KANG it.

I bought a 1 HP Waste Kang on sale 2-3 years ago. It's still sitting on the shelf waiting for the "In Sink Erator" to die.

Then you should get at least a fifteen (15) hp model.

When you turn it on, your house will revolve around the disposal's blades, plus it's hell on everything from medium yaks to still-frozen 3 ton mammoths.
