I feel the same way and think the manufacturer is the best bet. They have the proper parts and might not be making another spring or part work because they have it. On another note, Rolex now has their A.D.'s do the work.

Stay the heck away from Hamilton. I sent my Hamilton chrono back to the factory for repair. They returned it saying parts (gasket) were unavailable. Folks on an online forum say the gasket may be made from an after market source so that seems like a lame excuse. Granted the watch is 20 yrs+ old. but it is standard ETA 7750 Movement. Then they offered to sell me a new watch (standard field, but not chrono) at a slightly discounted price but they would keep my old watch. I figure it’s a scam. They would fix my older watch and sell it as a “vintage” watch at good profit for themselves. I purchased a nice auto watch from Island Watch for a lot less. I like their field watch. The watch uses a Seiko movement. It’s not a chrono like the Ham but just fine for me. I trust the Seiko movements. Dave Truong graciously offered to repair the Ham through his shop, an offer I am still considering as the Ham is an attractive watch. I won’t buy new Ham ever again given their failure to stand behind their products.

Just got an email with the bill. They serviced it, replaced the hands and face and bezel. The lamps were dead, so I guess they just replaced it. For the amount of money they charged me, you would have thought they’d ship it back for free, nope. "Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor.” Robert A. I got a quote for that same service a few years ago. I sold the GSAR and got a JDD instead lol Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here. Replaced the dial face? Hmmm. I'm assuming all of these replaced items were returned to you? Watch looks fantastic, by the way. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

No the parts were not returned. But I know they replaced the face & hands because the old ones were very dim. The new lamps are pretty bright and the crystal was deeply scratched. The bezel also was beat to hell and the triangle at the 12 o’clock position glows now and it had been dim for some time. They did not remove any scratches that were on the body of the watch "Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor.” Robert A. They should return all replaced items regardless. That is standard in the industry. When I had my Tag serviced, all parts that were replaced were returned to me including the crystal, bezel, stem, crown and even the old orings. Doesn't matter how trashed they are, they are your property. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

Mike, have you noticed the action being a little stiff, yet vague, for lack of a better term, when setting the time? I had damaged mine a few yrs back, don't know how though. They repaired the movement but I was never quite pleased when they returned it, I never cared to send it back though. Not alot of bang for the buck as far as I'm concerned regarding the service I had done. I remember a slow turn around, and expensive shipping. Foster's, Australian for Bud

^^^ no, it’s absolutely smoother than it was. I wore this watch daily for a decade. The bezel was just a half tick mark off, and was very difficult to move. Not now. When I first set the time today I was amazed at how smooth it was to set the day and he time. "Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor.” Robert A. I used Marathon’s customer service and was quite satisfied. Not super fast but I knew whatever my watch was and what was going on. It was about 3 weeks turn around. I like it! It's a good looking "black" watch. I had a slot in my collection for a "black" watch. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual."
