I have Geico. Same happened to my daughters car and it was filled as a collision claim. I do not carry Uninsured Motorist coverage. My premiums did NOT increase.

This kind of stuff is why I dumped both Allstate and my worthless Allstate agent and never looked back.

Have you asked security to review the footage?

My insurance company has covered several claims from being banked in parking lots. All were covered under comp with the lower deductible. Agent handled the claim. No increase in premium.

What you have is an Uninsured Motorist Property Damage claim, likely with a $200 deductible. It would be a not-at-fault accident and there should be no effect on your premium.

A unidentified hit and run vehicle meets the definition of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle in Virginia. Uninsured Motorist coverage is required in Virginia if you have a policy issued in Virginia.

If she gives you the slightest push back, let her know you will escalate the matter to the Virgina State Corporation Commission - Bureau of Insurance.

It sounds like he was actually talking to some type of first notice of loss/central claim reporting unit. Their job is to simply open the claim. They likely don't have the authority to approve it being a UMPD claim yet.

I am certain that once he talks to his local claim rep, this will get sorted out.

The first notice people are just call center workers and have almost no claims experience. They just open the claims and let the claims handlers fix all their mistakes.

The moon landing footage is probably better quality. It’s amazing these huge corporations and banks have such horrible cameras.

My daughters parked car was ran into by a kid on a bicycle while we were on vacation. The car was sitting in the driveway of our home (Arizona) and we were in Florida on vacation. We have camera footage of it happening.

The insurance company classified it as a collision claim.

I researched this heavily at the time as I was sure I was getting ripped off but unfortunately, if it is caused by a vehicle, bicycle, motorcycle, etc. it is a collision claim.

You guys were right...Allstate's UMPD Express Workgroup called me this afternoon to confirm that my Uninsured Motorist Coverage has been applied to my claim with a $200 deductible.

My coworker was hit at Walmart 10-15 years ago and I told him to check with security and sure as hell they found the person with the help of the local police dept. Somehow they didn't have to pay my coworker but they did get a ticket for driving without insurance. I think he should have taken them to small claims court but he didn't.

Never listen to the person who opens the claim for you.

When I started driving (at 16)I had Allstate. At 21 years old I bought a "high performance " car. Had a great driving record. Out of the blue I get a "we are dropping you" letter from Allstate. Now I have to get other insurance. One of the first questions they asked was , have you ever had your insurance cancelled? Well yes, but I had a good record. A real hassle all thanks to Allstate. Since than time (1970) I have a very piss on you about the Allstate Ins. Co.
